translators

looking for some help here, I want to send an email to someone in Brazil, but I know his english isn't that great. Does anybody know of a good site for translating text, preferably one that i can enter a bulk text and translate. Also, I know that some S. Amer. countries speak Porteguese, will a straight Spanish translation work?

Translates to spanish AND portuguese. Don't think they're interchangeable.

Yeh a lot of them aren't perfect (translate something from english to another language, then translate it back - you'll get an interesting translation!)

I sent him off a basic email stated I wanted to communicate with and which language he prefered to use, english, spanish, or portuguese

Yer right, I used mada's link and, and have already made contact, turns out we are both using the same translater, and maxwell's right, some stuff doesn't translate well, I'm thinking it has to do with grammer, things come out a little backwards

 

You're right. If you remember back to the OJ Simpson trial, his maid, or whoever the spanish speaking woman was, was asked a question about a wristwatch, and the interpreter told the questioner that there wasn't a Spanish word for that. Translators tell you it's reloj but if you go back to English, that's just "clock"
