Does anyone know of a good ACTIVE forum where i can post some questions about my problem, and someone would answer it? I tried to google, but couldn't find one that was very active. I seem to have a transmision leak and need some ideas. Thanks

It is a 1994 Oldsmobile Bravada, automatic. he leak appears to be coming from inside the bell housing cover. At first it looked like it was the Trans pan gasket. So I changed that and the filter, still leaking. So I take out the transfercase, take the cover off the bell housing, and the leaks appears to be coming from the front seal behind the torque convertor, but I really couldn't see, there wasn't enough room. So then I take out the transmission, torque convertor, replace the seal, hooray, all done. Then I pull it out of the garage, still leaking, same place. Oh and it is all wheel drive, has about 100,000 miles on it. any ideas? The leak is definetly coming from around the torque convertor, but it is not the seal.

Couple of things. The bushing that the hub of the converter rides on could be worn, or the pump O-ring or gasket could be leaking. The pump is the part the converter slides into if this is a rear wheel drive vehicle, I think it is. Or the bolts that hold the pump in may be allowing fluid along the theads of the bolt and out past the head of the bolt.
I'm a Ford tech, but I would think this stuff is similar.

Thanks for the info. The car is all wheel drive. Well it was, but i actually didn't put the front drive shaft back in the car when I put the transmission back in. So it is now only rear wheel drive. I did drive the car home last night, I had to drive it about 15 miles. The transmission shifted great, feels great, but at times when I look under the car, there is just a slight drip around the bellhousing cover, and at other times, it is like water from a gutter. Another strange thing that I noticed, If I am parked on a slight incline, with the car in park, it will roll, and it will not stop rolling until I E-brake. The speed of the roll of course depends on the size of the hill, but it can make a good 1/2inch to 2inch per second. I can feel the car shift up into park, but when I take my foot off the brake it will roll. I mean I could have the vehicle in park, and roll it downhill to the store, it would just take while.
Oh and BTW Sibeer, I would have picked FORD as well, you will always have a job working on FORDS. ;) Thanks for the input guys.

    Say what:confused

The only work I done on my 2001 Ranger is replacing the Alternator and, oh yeah - 4 new all season tires. It had 70k miles when I bought it and now has 121k miles. And all I had to do is replace the alternator.

The 1989 Chevy K-1500 Silverado (305 V-8) had headlight wiring problems, bad fuel pump, went through several so called "rebuilt" alternators & starters and had to replace the water pump twice while owning that truck for 3 years.

The 1999 GMC Jimmy SLT (4.3 Vortec V-6) had a $125 EGR valve go bad twice. A $300 gas pump failure. One water pump failed - Dexcool does not last no 5 years as stated on the coolant bottles. Had this SUV for 4 years.
