Trend Micro cve-2001-0240

I am new to this so bear with me. Trend Micro indicates I have a virus named cve-2001-0240. According to the Trend Micro information this virus affects the macros in Microsoft Word (to put it simply). I have deleted Office 2000 and run Trend Micro and the virus is not detected but when I reload Office 2000 and run the Tren Micro scan the virus is detected. I have been to numerous websites related to this problem but they are related to prevention not removal of this virus. I downloaded all Microsoft's updates. If anyone has had this problem and can give me some info on removal I would sure appreciate it.

 

Trend is not detecting a virus but that you have MicroSoft Word 2000 which is vulnerable to a certain type of attach if unpatched. Which, your's probably is.

MS Word 2000 unless patched is vulnerable to the type of attack described in CVE-2001-0240. If TrendMicro is reporting that specific vulnerability then your copy of Word has not been patched. You need to run Office Update.
