Trend Micro scan stops at localhost

I've spent the day getting Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 installed. My first problem has been solved thanks to help from this site. :major

Now that the software has successfully loaded, it will not complete a scan. I have tried several things and have uninstalled/reinstalled the software. When the scan hangs up at localhost, I cannnot shut down the computer using the shutdown procedure. I have to press down the on/off button for at least 10 seconds.

I copied Microsoft error report information and have screen shot from Trend Micro. Hopefully, I have attached it successfully.

Anyone have any ideas what I need to do to correct whatever is preventing Trend Micro from scanning? :cry

I tried this already and the installation failed. Error message when tried to install fix for Trend Micro scan/localhost:

Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 Hotfix
Checking TIS/TAV Information
Checking program version - 16.05.1022 (No pass)
Installation failed!

I'll keep pestering Trend Micro and see if they come up with anything else. The problem was something to do with registry key greater than 257??

I should have stayed with my Major Geeks setup. I had been using AVG, SpywareBlaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Ware, and Norman Malware Cleaner. May have been more than I needed but it seemed to take care of everything. :major

I don' know what came over me to buy anti-virus and Internet security package. Now, my Tango Manager is unable to get responses back from it's test probes it sends out to internet resources. AND I have anti-virus software that will not scan. :mad
