I have followed EVERY piece of advice in EVERY thread and EVERY article on this board but I cannot get rid of HSA.
Every time I follow all of the steps and then run AdAware, About Buster and Hijack This they just have the same 4 to 13 registry keys files and folders which they say are removed but as soon as I try to go back into the internet I'm in the exact same place.
I have turned off system restore, stopped and disabled remote procedure call helper and network security service (I did not have workstation net logon service). All hidden folders are visible and all extension types are visible.
I have run C Cleaner, set spyware blaster to all enabled, run McAfee Stinger, run Kill2Me, run HSremove, run PC Cillin (I cannot run the free scan from trend micro because explorer shuts down whenever I try) and run symantec security check. The only thing I haven't run/loaded is spybot because when I had it at one time it caused major problems with my system.
One thing I have noticed is that whenever I try to shut down I always get a warning that microsoft.exe is not shutting down and I have to end it manually. I'm wondering if that is my problem.
If anyone can help, I'd be very grateful!

Yes, I read the advice on the generic solution post. Some of it I was unable to complete due to system issues. (For example, one of the things is to take your .dll file and .exe files and save them after running the notepad and deleting it, however, I'm unable to do that because the system says a file already exits by that name...DUH...I KNOW that!). Anyway, I eventually gave up and reformatted the hard drive then installed all kinds of protection programs. It was the hard way but at least it's gone. But thanks for all the help offered by this forum anyway. For people like me who know NADA about how our computers run, this whole site is a godsend!

Okay! It's too bad you had to format! But sometimes if you do not have to much stuff on a PC and not to much to back up, it can be faster.

Make sure you follow the steps in the below link to help avoid problems like this in the future:
