    Hello, i registered some time ago. After saying "hello" i started reading some threads and what to do if you were hit by malware.
    I than had a trojan ( TDSS )wich i, thx to the removal procedure could move with the TDSS killer.
    It went good for a couple a days when my antivirus ( avast ) kept colouring red
    warning me for several trojans.
    Now i cant even use TDSS killer, even renaming it. Tried some other programs but nothing seems to help.
    Malwarebytes cant find a thing while avast tells me its a
    win32:malware gen
    win32:fakesysdef-EG
    win32:dropper-gen
    Dont have any clue anymore ...

    Would really appreciate some help,

    Thx in advance,

    Daimon

    Hello Tim,

    I went thru the whole procedure (wich was quite some).
    But im glad that i did it ;) . Everything is kinda running smoother.
    After the combofix all my files were shown at my desktop, wich wasnt the case before.
    But when the system rebooted and i wanted to go online with firefox, a pop up from avast was shown with following message :
    crj71ki813ck.com\...\hrcby=
    URL : Mal
    Action : Blocked
    Proces : programfiles\mozillafirefox\firefox.exe
    Maybe you can see this in the logfiles, but i just wanted you to know.
    Another thing is that an update from windows keeps popping up but when i try to install it. I tried to disable the update manually but no succes.
    KB 974417 : Microsoft.net Framework 2.0 service pack 2 for windows, windows server 2003 and windows XP.

    Thx in advance,

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    cryeqqu
    gxyadkx
    AMService

    Files::
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\vlrvmt.sys
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\tiqbnoep.sys
    c:\windows\TEMP\kbqo\setup.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\19390260
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\~19390260
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\~19390260r

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the previous file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hey Tim,

    I copy/paste the lines in notepad and named it CFscript.txt.
    Dragged and dropped it into Combofix. It automatically started.
    Combofix had an update wich i allowed.
    After the update the C:/ prompt asked me to end now or abort it.
    I aborted it and combofix started scanning.
    After getting the logfile i started mgtools. The logs are attached.

    Use windows explore and see if you can manually remove these:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\19390260
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\~19390260
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\~19390260r

    Tell me if you can. Then let me know what malware issues you are still having, if any.

  10. Daimon28

    Daimon28 Private E-2

    Hey Tim,

    I could remove the three items manually.
    I cant see anything suspicious nor weird actions anymore.
    So i think/hope this malware is history.
    I'd better go to the 'prevent' threads to avoid these things, they sure are a pain in the ... :)
    Anyhow Tim, a big big big thank you for your time and solutions.
    You guys rock !

    Thx again,

    You are most welcome.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.We recommend them for doing backup scans when you suspect a malware infection.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Malware removal from a National Chain = $149
    Malware removal from MajorGeeks = $0

    What is the full path to the file? Does Avast find it when you do a scan?

  14. Daimon28

    Daimon28 Private E-2

    it is,

    C:\Documents & Settings \...\ xI36tAxF.exe
    C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe

    I did a full scan but avast didnt find anything.
    While scanning this file tried to open. Avast wanted to open it in sandbox but i aborted it.

    Thx in advance,

    That's not the full path, but I guess that is all Avast gave you. Let's do this:

    Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
    Download Mirror #1
    Download Mirror #2

    • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
    • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
      Code:
      :filefind
      xI36tAxF*

    • Click the Look button to start the scan.
    • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
    Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

    If you have already removed MGTools, then download it again from MGtools and save it to your root folder. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one if you haven't removed it. Run the exe and get me the new C:\MGLogs.zip.

    Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract+ avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * -Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Now run Ccleaner to clean out only temp files and nothing else!

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).Make sure that you watch for the license agreement for TrendMicro HijackThis and click on the Accept button TWICE to accept ( yes twice ).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\Avenger.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hello,

    The program Avenger worked properly and rebooted by itself.
    I ran Ccleaner by cleaning only temporary files.
    When using the Getlogs.bat file it didnt ask me to accept anything :confused
    it all ran automatically.
    After the reboot i got this faillure from windows.
    C:\Docume~1\cwazy\locals~1\temp\werdcb4.dir00\mini042911-01.dmp
    C:\Docume~1\cwazy\locals~1\temp\werdcb4.dir00\sysdata.xml

    Avast may be giving you a false positive, but if you want to be sure, we can uninstall FF and reinstall it:

    Do the below to save bookmarks:

    • Run FireFox and click Bookmarks.
    • Then select Organize Bootmarks.
    • Then on the next window click File and then select Export. Save the bookmarks.html file to your Desktop for later use in importing.

    Now download and save the installer for the current version of FireFox but DO NOT install it yet. Get it here: Mozilla FireFox

    You will need to exit FireFox now and use Internet Explorer to continue with the below until we reinstall FireFox.

    Start by uninstalling FireFox and then reboot. Do not skip the reboot.
    After reboot, delete the below folders:

    C:\Documents and Settings\UserAccount\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

    where UserAccount is the actual user account name being used.

    Now reinstall FireFox from the file previously downloaded.
    Import your bookmarks file. (similar process to exporting).

    Is FireFox working okay now?

    If you are not having any malware issues, then it's time to do our final cleanup, so pay particular attention to the last link on How to Protect Yourself:
