    Hi folks,

    I was trying to download Cannon's CAPT printer driver, and clicked on the wrong website. The link sent me to a .ru address, and voila, many fancy things click through the screen downloading many things, and a pop up preventing me from leaving the site in time. Before I could say "Majorgeeks" there was pop up windows going up everywhere.

    List of initial symptoms
    -Could not access internet. The home website settings were not changed, but browsers would start at 'safesurfs.net' or something similar. Exact address below.
    Moderator edit: Link removed
    -Proxy setting checked. Proxy was set to "stopblock...." exact address below. I have deleted and unchecked, but still no dice.
    Moderator edit: Link removed
    -Trying to access google.com or anyother website would connect me to 'tovi.ru' or something along those lines. Again, I can't remember the exact address, because I was just trying to close out before anything more could happen.
    -Many unwanted programs installed. Can't remember the list but, a driver updater, a pc speed monitor, headphone app, etc. (details should be in the attached log.) I haven't determined how many of them were malware, but I didn't mean to install them. I just wanted a printer driver. So they are suspect.
    -Windows defender tells me there are threats it has dealt with (probably Trojans?). I know windows defender is not the best. It's a loaner computer from insurance while I'm waiting for my computer getting fixed. Normally I use AVG Zen.

    Initial countermeasure:
    I've gone through the read & run me first steps, and the computer seems a little calmer, but still I cannot access the internet.
    The Network and Sharing Center has shown me that I'm connected to the router but not to the Internet. My other computer has no problem accessing the internet through the same router. (see print screen attached, "network and sharing center.png"

    I've attached the logs as instructed. Would anyone be able to guide me to the right direction?
    Your saintly help is much needed and appreciated!!

    System specs:
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
    Service Pack 1

    Toshiba Notebook
    Rating: 5.1
    Processor: Intel Core i3-2350M CPU @2.3 GHz 2.3 GHz
    Memory: 4.00GB
    System: 64bit

    Hi there and a warm welcome :)

    Did you set the proxy deliberately? Let me know!

    Rerun Hitman Pro, enable/activate the free trial and let it remove everything except for the Ccleaner entries.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DiskPower] "C:\Program Files (x86)\DPower\DiskPower.exe"
    • O23 - Service: Horishghelodom Agent (hrsAgentcvotqumaied.exe) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files (x86)\Atovaseaneraent\hrsAgentcvotqumaied.exe

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Fix items using RogueKiller.

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    When it opens, press the Scan button
    Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\csdimedia -> Found
    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MPC -> Found
    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SrpnFiles -> Found
    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIN -> Found
    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\{E6276374-DE18-4AA5-A365-9016A2F98A2D} -> Found
    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-4145262765-203773468-174508142-1000\Software\csdimedia -> Found
    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-4145262765-203773468-174508142-1000\Software\Wizzlabs -> Found
    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-4145262765-203773468-174508142-1000\Software\csdimedia -> Found
    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-4145262765-203773468-174508142-1000\Software\Wizzlabs -> Found
    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\11598763487076930564 -> Found

    Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.

    Do the same for this entry on the tasks tab:
    • [Suspicious.Path] \bvyvbvhx -- C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\bvyvbvhx\bvyvbvhx.exe -> Found

    And the same for these entries on the files tab:

    When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
    Upload RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    Download and run OTM.

    Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :Services
    Horishghelodom Agent

    :Reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\DPower_is1]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\RunOnce]
    "OMEWPRODUCT_HTRII"=-
    "OTUTPRODUCT_MK4A9"=-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Wow6432Node\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Run]
    "DiskPower"=-

    :Files
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\BIT999F.tmp
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\InstallationConfiguration.xml
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Installer.dat
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\JobSolsoft.exe
    C:\Program Files (x86)\3a25F8D
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Atovaseaneraent
    C:\Program Files (x86)\sbqh
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SearchProtect
    C:\Program Files (x86)\DPower

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into a text file to upload into your next reply.

    NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

    • Please give Ccleaner a run, not the reg scanner, just the cleaner itself to be rid if a chunk of temp files.
    • Now re run Malware Bytes and let it remove anything it may find, if it does, upload a log showing this.
    • Re run Roguekiller (just a scan) and upload latest log.
    • Rerun Hitman, (just a scan) and upload latest log.
    • Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
    • Let me know how things are running!

    Hi Kestrel13!

    Thank you very much for the reply.
    And thanks for the detailed reply. You're awesome.
    I did not deliberately set the proxy. It got changed by the series of intrusions.

    I've got to go to sleep now, so I'll try this tomorrow evening and let you know how it goes.

    Cheers,

    Ken
