Trivia question: 20s vs 40s

    Our Mark Philippoussis (who has some notoriety as an Australian playboy and tennis star), has signed up for a US TV dating reality show, “Age of Love”. rolleyes

    What he didn’t know when signing up is that the producers arranged a gorgeous selection of single American women competing for his selection will comprise of 6 women in their 20s and 7 aged over 40 years. ;)LOL

    Although my friends and I wouldn’t waste air time watching this reality show, it still has raised some humourous discussion amongst us and we’re finding the men saying “age doesn’t matter” (but somehow their body language doesn’t match up).:p

    What do you say guys and gals? When it comes to 20s vs 40s who do you think would win out?

    LOL At least you're honest!;)

    Below is a "Fox Sports" link on his introduction to these women...the 40s were introduced first (drop dead gorgeous - Called the "Cougars")...check out his body/audio language when they reveal their age:D

    Next he's introduced to the 20 year olds - called the "Kittens" (he's still drooling:p)

    Here are the links to see that video on introductions:

    reality check! women are just like the rest of the humans. we wake every day not knowing WTF we are doing or how to do it. (like 'you' some of us are better at pretending) yes, some of us have more experience in our forties than our twenties. Duh.. some not that you would notice. life is strange. what happens here stays here. :)

    LOLThree brave people have posted here so far:clap

    I guess some are a bit nervous about responding in case their partner smothers them with a pillow while they sleep.:D

    The question is an open one (regardless of sex...as LauraB pointed out - bravo!), and also applies regardless of partner type preference (ie same sex partner).

    Personally, during my adolescence I was attracted to older men for their mental/intellectual stimulation/maturity and knowledge which was in addition to physical attraction.

    As I matured, my attitude towards age differences changed also so long as I was still getting the mental/intellectual/maturity factors in my men, and if you added a good cook into the bargain, I was totally hooked! Nothing beats a romantic dinner set up by your man:drool:heart.

    So in my books, age doesn't matter, so long as there's a good fit (for your own personal quirks/likes);)

    i have had young lovers and older lovers, and there are as many advantages to the exuberance of youth as to the deliberate seduction and lovemaking of one who has nothing to prove. mostly i think its all circumstantial. what turns me on one day, wont have that effect on me another.

    The young girls will win if he was being honest,if he wants to put over a good impression he'll spend all his time talking to the old gals but his eyes would be elsewhere

    Just a fact of life I think a generlised fact,I think most relationships come down to location and circumstance and most of the populace can learn to love each other

    Ok Legalsuit here goes!
    I reckon the 20's will win it.
    Its all about what others think. (i personally dont care)
    Common beliefs are:
    Can an 40yr old guy pull a 20yr old girl? If he can, its great for his ego.
    If a 20yr old guy pulls a 40yr old woman, then its mothering he's after.
    If a 40yr old woman pulls a 20yr old guy, its a toyboy.
    If a 20yr old woman pulls a 40 yr old guy, then its money!!

    Me, I dont care about age, its the person inside that matters :)

    When I was 45 newly separated after 23 yrs. Was in a spin at first, kids grown, helped my husband with his career and had none myself. So after sitting home alone for 3 weeks crying I snapped out of it and went got drunk. Was in bed 2 or 3 days UGH! Then started going to listen to music at the bars with friends and my kids (all well over 21). Soon I was dancing, playing pool, we always had a table home for the kids and turned out I was good, no I mean GOOD. Dated some in their late 20's 30's lot of fun. When it comes to stability and conversation you want someone closer to your age who remembers the same stuff you do, who doesn't use the F word in every sentence and when you bring up something from the 70's they chime in, "thats when I was born" eeek
    I could still turn heads then but the older you get the faster you age. Think I'm someplace now around every 46 min. ;) Not a whole lot of changes from teen to 20, minuet from 20 to 30 by 40 you have to ware those little Ben Franklin glasses from the drug store in order to read. At 40 to 50 your face is beginning to resemble a bull dog perhaps teeth have been replaced and your skin in general is looking too large for your body. I joined a gym with the goal to get my butt off the back of my legs. Lost my 50's pretty much altogether due to so much illness. Now 60's dear lord - everything sags, hurts, is bruised or missing. What the hell was the question again?

    Richard Pryor did a skit where his daughter brought home a friend who was 15 years old but had a body that was a knock out, just gorgeous from head to toe, he was drooling/ scheming, then he said, "thank god she opened her mouth"

    LOL cooled him right off

    roflmaoDarlene, you're a Legend! Loved your post, though I'll bet you can still turn a young man's head because everything from within you would shine in your eyes and capture 'em!

    My mum had that ability (though she never took the bait)...I even remember one time I couldn't make a dinner/theatre date due to last minute workload, so suggested my date take mum instead. Well, he had a wonderful time and all I ended up was having coffee with him after work while he raved on how wonderful mum was (I was jealous and proud of mum at the same time).

    Mum (a long time widow) often fended off younger men's advances (she remained ever faithful to dad's memory). Although she grew old gracefully, she remained a charmer.

    Good summary you provided in your post on 20s vs 40s re Common beliefs, but not all are true in reality from what I've seen of people with substance and from personal experience.

    I reckon as far as "our Mark" is concerned, you're probably right...he appears to be a shallow, pretty boy with "little between his ears". Given his past record, bets are already laid here that he'll probably pick a 20yr old.;):D

    I suppose it's all relative to who you are.

    i love my lady dearly but still think how wonderfull some of the young girls look and i can still remember what it was like to have youth on my side. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/huepfen/jumping-smiley-001.gif

    when we were young it was a great trophy to get a girl into bed and to believe that we were real studs. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/alles_moegliche/mixed-smiley-022.gif

    in later years we had a little more finess and treated a lady with respect if only because we were scared she might walk away. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/engel/angel-smiley-027.gif

    now in my late 50s i am appreiciative of beauty and still think i am a stud who could knock their socks off. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/tiere/animal-smiley-037.gif

    but there is always this old saying that comes back to haunt me NEVER LET YOUR MOUTH WRITE A CHEQUE YOUR BODY CAN'T CASH and with that i go back to dreaming. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/schlafen/sleeping-smiley-001.gif

    There's advantages to both

    40s---There is something to be said for experience, in ALL things!:D I will apply that to men as well.

    20s---Everything is still in the place that it's supposed to be, including one's :kissmy

    Reckon?

    That isn't always the case from what I generally see on the street, office, at the gym or on the beach. Some younger types don't always seem to care enough. Around here (at least around my area) there's some pretty stiff competition (male and female). A walk along the beach shortly after sunrise is evidence enough to show plenty of fit looking mature and even elderly people in equal numbers to younger ones.

    LOL I'd say my post was more in the trying to be light and funny mode, LS. I wasn't talking about being in good shape. ;)

    Of course you are right about fitness and age not necessarily going together. I'm almost 40 and would say I'm probably in the more fit end of the spectrum thanks mainly to yoga, in some part to golf, and the fact that I'm active. And that comment wouldn't be a for my age comment. But sadly, gravity does take over. :cry

    you are as always correct i have spent almost two years at stomach level so i have seen plenty and the majority with bulging stomachs seem to be the 18 to 25s after that they seem to regain interest in their posture.

    the other thing that seem to be a big fashion statement are young girls with tattoos i wonder sometimes if they realize that a tattoo is forever and when they reach 50 or 60 they will not look so good with a skull & crossbones on their arm.

    sadly LAURA the ravage of time is a grim reminder that we never get younger so just grow old gracefully, maturity in a woman who has taken a little care of herself can be quite stunning and never forget a woman is like a good wine she gets better with age. http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/love/love0039.gif

    Well, aren't you the charmer, Bill. :) I agree with you whole heartedly, specially since I'm not 20 anymore. ;) I think your statement goes for men too. I wouldn't trade my 41 year old hubby for a 20 year old for anything. After 20 years of being together, I've got him just the way I like him. Also, that whole experience in all things is a wonderful thing.LOL

    @ L.S.:- Welp, T.B.H., I assumed you were a guy, too. Although some of the wordings and phraseology,
    of some of the posts, I wasn't sure. Not something a think about that much in net-chats, anyway.

    I basically just go by contents of character, and 'quality', if you like, of posts. You know what they
    say about assumption and all that, LoL! You wouldn't believe I got 15/16 right in the "can
    you tell female from pretend female", quiz. Then again - what do I know, lol! :eek:

    ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
    Well, I have had women 10 years (more?) 'interested' in me, but then, usually I
    wouldn't have a lot in common with someone, say 20+ years younger. (There are exceptions to this as
    I've had meaningful discussions many times with people in that age bracket).:cool
    Which brings me back to the subject of personality and character content. Since i.m.h.o., there is
    much more to human (male/female) relationships than the mere physical, I would be inclined to take
    a holistic view in any serious relationship. I mean, I will talk and relate to all walks of life,
    but to spend 24/7, or anything close to it, to someone is another ball-game, entirely, i.m.o.
    Some folks think I'm way too analytical and logical, and I sometimes get told to "lighten up dude!". :eek:
    Ah well, I'm an ex-scientist, that's what we do. :p
    Who will win? 20's or 40's? Since it's a so-called 'reality' show, I have no idea. And since it would be time well wasted (to me). I'm not likely to find out any time soon.:p
    P.S.: I've been married, although separated for the last four years, longer than some of those gals! (enven though, I was only 21 at the time). Ah youth, and all that. <*gulp!>.
    roflmao Guess it's the influence and style of legal writing that tries to avoid gender that comes through which can be interpreted differently...don't feel bad because I've had same reactions in business and with personnel from different authorities upon face to face meetings with whom I've previously only communicated in writing (particularly when I've been forceful). My friends are still laughing at Rikky's comments because they know what I'm really like...and though I'm very independent, like to stay fit and take care of myself, I'm definitely not masculine.
    I enjoy a mixed group of ages too...makes for great conversation and fun/interesting times.
    Ditto.
    That's me when working...hence the need to switch off...so I play as hard as I work.;):p
    Re reality show: I reckon a 20yr will win it and I'm basing this bet on the type of person this "Mark" appears to be.;):D
    News of "our Mark" was splashed in papers, TV and sports news which provided great fodder as a fun conversation piece amongst my friends while touching on realities. Personally I wouldn't waste air time on this/these type of shows...but I reckon we'll probably touch base occasionally to see how our bets are going.:D
    No I'm all man. I just know what I like. I'm 36 and really like women around my age or older. I've always been that way when I was younger I was more attracted to women in their thirties and forties and I am not ashamed of it.
