Trogan downloader problem!!!

Good Morning,

Mt daughter downloaded a trojan downloader earlier this week and I'm having a lot of trouble even finding it. It doesn't seem to be malicious but merely annoying. One of her friends is a member of the Geek Squad so he was over earlier this week and told me it would be no problem eliminating it. Well after three hours he finished and it took about three minutes for it to replicate itself. This might be the excuse I need to go out and buy that Imac I want. But, my main question is, I need to give a copy of an Excel spreadsheet that is on this PC to a member of the neighborhood group. Is it possible for the virus to piggyback on the spreadsheet when I copy it?

Hi and my advice to you is to stick with the removal and follow our 1st steps guide I will post below, do follow the instructions verbatim as the running order is specific,

as to the Excel Doc, I highly doubt it but you can if you have another PC with antivirus/antispyware on it double check the spreadsheet.

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)

Bitdefender

Panda Scan

HijackThis

once you have completed the steps attach the logs and one of your malware experts will assist you in removing the trojan
