Mass fragmented files? You mean you are getting pop up ad's?

That's entirely up to you but you risk harming your PC! Is this really what you want to do, or would you rather it got fixed?

Combofix is offline at the moment due to a bug fix that's taking place, so that is the reason you are unable to download it right now. Please attach all of the requested logs from our READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide and then I can get to work on a fix for you.

    Thanks
    Kes13!

its not letting me, the pop-ups are horrible now, and I'm actually surprised I got online...I have to defrag everytime I google something because its like the pop-ups wont let my comp run anything...I got a trial for vipre and it picked up nothing, tried norton antivirus 2010, nothing, avast free trial, nothing, avg free, nothing...but I do think I know where I picked this virus up at...I tried downloading avg with a serial code good thru 2018 (I know, too good to be true) and a few days after that it starts giving me mad pop-ups, I erased it but the virus stuck....I will keep trynig to post replys as directed, I just hope you get'em! thx again

It will let you install the recovery console if you say yes! I would like for you to do this, which we will deal with below a little later.

    1. What are you currently using for anti virus? Is the below add/remove entry related to Norton/symantec?

    2. Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    3. Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    4. Now I want you to download a fresh copy of combofix and run it as per the instructions.

    Combofix

    A guide to running combofix

*Be sure to install the recovery console when prompted*

    5. Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combofix. and avenger

    6. Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

well, I got MGtools to run but when I ran combofix, it rebooted, ran for about a minute, then a blue screen came up and it said it had to shut down to prevent damage to my comp...but on the upside, there are NO frag. files, it seems to be running WAY faster, and no popups (fingers crossed) but I'm attaching myMGtools log...if you fixed my comp, U get the MVP for the decade!

Then please attach the C:\Mglogs.zip file that it generated into your next reply.

    Thanks

Try using adblocker plus extension for Firefox to combat the pop up situation.

Now I want you to uninstall combofix like this, let me know if you encounter any errors:

Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required.

    Code:
    "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.

This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

Now use Windows Explorer to locate and delete any of the below listed files/folders:

    • ComboFix.exe file
    • C:\ComboFix folder
    • C:\QooBox folder
    • C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe
    • C:\combofix.txt
    • C:\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt logs that was created

Reboot, then try to download and run it again. Attach the log it creates if you are successful.

NOTE:: I would suggest that Vipre be uninstalled before trying to run ComboFix. It is probably causing a problem.

I have attached your 2 combofix logs for you considering you are having so much trouble (I do not know why)

Apart from what I already removed with avenger I am not seeing any remaining malware to deal with, so let's just fix some non malware items and then for any other issues you are having you must visit the software forum or wherever appropriate.

    1. You have combofix running from the wrong location:
You need to move it directly onto the desktop as requested. and then while you're at it, you can rename it back to combofix.exe instead of combofix2.exe.

    2. Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:

    KILLALL::

    DirLook::
    c:\program files\Setup Files

    Folder::
    c:\documents and settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\Symantec
    c:\documents and settings\Danny.DAVIS1\Local Settings\Application Data\Symantec
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\NAV
    c:\documents and settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\Norton

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for you to ATTACH the log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    3. Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combofix.

    4. Are you STILL getting pop up's? Did you bother to install adblocker plus for Firefox? (I see you're using a beta version of FF)

    5. Are you actually still having any malware issues because I don't see anything wrong other than what was already removed in earlier posts.

    you too! You're welcome.

    Your logs are clean :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
