Trojan from MG download

Hey, I just downloaded the Vista Transformation Pack from MG and when I tried to install it AVG 9 recognized a trojan ! This looks like an older file from November 2008?, so I don't understand how it can have an infection. Someone needs to check this download. :confused

AVG, like other antivirus programs, has a heuristic scanner to detect potentially suspect programs. Sometimes they flag legitimate programs as malware as a result. Because the pack changes some Windows system files, AVG's heuristic scanner flags it as a suspect program because some viri and trojans change Windows system files also (for malicious purposes though). This is what is happening.

Just to clarify what "heuristic scanner" means, it means that AVG, like most antivirus programs, not only scan for known viruses, malware, etc. but also scan files that do things that viruses, malware, etc. do. They use this type of scanning since new viruses and malware come out every day, and hope to catch things that haven't been identified yet.

Many files behave LIKE viruses, in that they change system files, modify registry settings, and change Windows settings... and most antivirus programs will think any program that does these things is a virus, even when they're not.

You can be assured that ALL files hosted on MG are free from any kind of malware, as they are personally tested by the forum malware EXPERTS before being allowed on MG.
