just this morning i just finish downloading a counter strike game, i opened up my local disk drive to go through my files and find the new game and i saw a program i didnt recognizem, and like an idiot i opened it. it installed countless trojans i bealive (ran an AVG scan and found a few) and now i constantly get pop ups. but the weird thing is they do nto show up on my taskbar.and my taskbar has been changed to the classic skin, and i cant change it back because the XP taskbar skin isnt listed.

and i also want to make note that this is my full hijack this log, i did not delete anything. previous websites iv gone for help accused me of hideing stuff. when i first got hijack this i ran it and though everything was spyware so i clicked them all and clicked fix. but then i realized they wernt, so my hijackthis log is sort of short

    Welcome to MGs!

Your first mistake is downloading illegal software.

You really should consider reinstalling your OS since you have deleted many things that should be loading using HJT. Your system has very little protection and AVG may not be running properly anymore since some items are not loading at startup. This is a very bad idea. Part of your problem is a Look to me infection. Before posting HijackThis logs you need to follow standard cleaning procedures in the below sticky threads and you must install HJT properly too. Make sure you run ALL steps and attach the logs from step 6.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

    .
Then run the steps in the below and attach the two requested logs:
    Look2Me VX2 Removal

ilegal software? if your refering to counterstrike tecnically it was NS a counter strike mod, but back to the main topic.

everything went smoothly and the pop ups seem to be gone.
but just in case here are the attachments, would you mind looking through them to make sure something isnt hideing?

and i know this isnt the right place to ask, but while im here i might as well, have any ideas where i can redownload the windows XP taskbar skin?

    thank you for the help

That is not what you said in your first message! You said:
You said "downloading a CounterStrike game" --- not a patch!
    Also "find the new game"!

Sounds like a game was downloaded, not a patch. But back to the topic of malware.

Please run ALL of the READ & RUN ME as requested an attach the requested logs from step 6. You still seem to have some hidden infected files that need to be removed.
