My mcafee virus scanner detected a few trojans on my laptop earlier. They were type Generic.dx I believe. It could delete most of the detected trojans except for one. I tried to scan my laptop's hard drive but everything was running slower than usual. So I got frustrated and did a system restore on Vista. After the system restore, everything seemed to work again. Right now, I'm using Mcafee to do a scan on my hard drive. My question is, if mcafee doesn't find anything, does that mean the trojans are gone? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

    Hi usert2008,
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

There are some occasions where system restore can beat a piece of malware, but unfortunately, it is more common that although system restore can remove a registry entry and those entries created by an installation, malware sometimes leaves behind a file which is of the type that system restore does not get rid of. For this reason, it would be a good idea for you to go through the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST and attach the logs these scans produce so we can check them.
