    I am caught in most difficult situation wrt viruses/malware/trojan.
    Till recently i thought i am able to thwart any virus/trojan attack, since i am comfy with computer.

    But last 10 days, all 6 computers i have in my small office(XP) went down, with similar symptoms.
    It started with all of them getting pop ups with strange error ("16 Bit MS-DOS Subsystem" Error Message - 15th april) & all computers getting really slow.
    runing combofix at that time cured that particular issue.

    Strange enough, different softwares were pointing out different trojans like Trojan.gen, Worm.Autorun, trojan fraudpack, trojan catchme(legacy_catchme) & more.

    My malware bytes regularily gives message ip blocked (earlier 38.97.225.195, then 89.149.244.143, then 212.95.32.109 & now last 2-3 days 217.23.4.160, every 2 minutes )

    i've tried all software which have said now, following exactly how its written.
    Before that i've tried spyware doctor, stopzilla(seemed fishy), online scans, norman malware remover, they all found something, but nobody seem to have cleaned the system.

    Please Help!!

    First off, do you know what these are:
    c:\documents and settings\mediaken\Application Data\wayh.exe ??
    c:\documents and settings\mediaken\Application Data\bf.exe ??

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    bbbhuxhn
    ebztantk
    hxspruhh
    NDISKIO
    nsak
    qksojosy
    TfNetMon

    File::
    c:\windows\System32\Drivers\bbbhuxhn.sys
    c:\windows\System32\Drivers\ebztantk.sys
    c:\windows\System32\Drivers\hxspruhh.sys
    c:\docume~1\mediaken\LOCALS~1\Temp\00001655.nmc\nse\bin\ndiskio.sys
    c:\docume~1\mediaken\LOCALS~1\Temp\00001569.nmc\nse\bin\nsak.sys
    c:\windows\System32\Drivers\qksojosy.sys
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\TfNetMon.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\-1

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}\NoExplorer]

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the previous file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hi Tim,

    Thanks for your help.
    I do not know any of these files wayh.exe or bf.exe.
    Similar files have been getting caught by other softwares also.

    I did as you said.
    please find the logs attached.

    Good to know. I was concerned that maybe they were files you created, but I am starting to see them in other users logs. Let me ask you if you know what these are:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\96A8A43562.sys
    C:\SZKGFS.dat

    You can right click and choose properties and tell me what they are related to or if they have a signature.

    Lets go ahead and remove the other two.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.

    File::

    c:\documents and settings\mediaken\Application Data\bf.exe
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\TfFsMon.sys
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\TfSysMon.sys

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe

    HI!

    Thanks for your help!
    I did all that you said, couldn't find anything in the file.
    I went ahead & added them in CFscript as well.
    I am a techie, and it seemed ok to me, though i guess you wouldn't approve of it.

    My laptop seems to work ok now. after previous removals.
    Please find logs attached.

    Also, i have a question.
    I have two more computers, with similar configuration, with similar symptoms.
    how should i go about them, should i do same way as you said here, or start afresh with their logs.
    Also, Please tell me should i start new thread for each of them.

    Thanks again.

    sorry to bump the post.
    Just wanted to add an observation, this particular trojan/malware seems to always store its files/mostly in dat format or random names in application data folder or temp folder.
    can you kindly also share what is the name of this species, so i google it & understand more.

    Thanks a lot.

    I can't give you a name for the virus, as you could upload it to jotti and each scanner would probably give it a different name. What they call it is unimportant, really.

    As to the other computers, yes, you need to follow the same procedures, the same scans and start a new thread for each one.

    I am not seeing any malware in your logs.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
