There can be many such false detections and sometimes it may not help to run additional scanning tools because they all may detect similar problems. The reasons this can happen are many:

• non-valid or no security certificate in the program
• an unrecognized program to the scanning tool
• the program being falsely detected may be a legit uninfected program but it could make modifications to your PC like:
  • creating files and folder ( every program does this anyway
  • modifying the registry ( most legit programs have to do this too )
  • may download additional files ( many programs do this, even antivirus programs themselves )
  • may make other modifications/changes to your PC ( again many legit programs do this too)

While all the above can cause a scanning program to detect malware, I could be a false detection. Even many of the special malware tools we run to remove infections ( including our own MGtools.exe ) are commonly accused of being infected.

If your professor has told you it is a false detection then it more than likely is the case.
