    popuper.exe removal help

    Hey guys I have read your posts on the smith trojan and it was really helpful. I got all my tabs back on my display proprerties, and my wallpaper is back to normal. I used all of the removal tools and got rid of alot of trojans like (wp.exe, wp.bmp), but I can't seem to get rid of popuper.exe. Can anyone suggest a to do list that will get this thing off my PC. I'm running windows XP (home edition). Let me know what other information I need to supply you guys so you can help. I appreciate your time guys. One other thing when I try to get a windows update I get a error message saying it could not update. Does anybody know what the error message(oooo8b***) is about?

    Please do not post duplicate threads. I'm merging you back to your previous thread. Complete the steps I gave you here and we will get your problems fixed. Also please post complete word for word unedited error messages. They are much more helpful.

    Sorry bro didn't mean to step on youre toes bro but I am new to this forum. I read before I posted so I'm not just asking for you to do all my work for me. I heard this was a good place to get help so I wanted to give it shot. I'm going to go back and doing all the stuff in the "Read me before asking for help" post and see if I can get this thing off my computer. I'll post results for you again. Maybe you can help me out this time.

    Seems I may have merged you back into a thread belonging to allieb4 ( http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61956) by mistake. Thus, I'm splitting you off to your own. If you are saying you still have problems and that you ran all of the READ ME FIRST, then follow the steps below.


    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
