    Hey all,

Ive been having these issues for quite some time and I'm sick of it. Randomly browsing, ill go to Google something or watch a show and It will take me to some random site. Sometimes "askthecrew.com" or Dex yellow pages, or something else random. So I know Ive been Trojan'd. But I cannot get rid of it.

I run Windows 7, Ive ran, Mal-ware bytes, Spy-bot search and destroy. Windows security essentials. CCleaner. And lastly Hijack this. This is the log I get if anyone can interpenetrate this for me would be very appreciated. I assume this would be the best place to start?

I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.

Then make sure you follow all of these procedures too.

Attached are the Goord fix and the Mbr check. Let me know what you find. The MBR check said there was something wrong!

Not true. You have not attach the requested logs from the below:
    • SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Malwarebytes
    • ComboFix
    • RootRepeal
All of these are part of the READ & RUN ME FIRST. See the link in step 7 which pointed you to cleaning instructions for Vista and Windows 7

  13. thnikkaman2

    thnikkaman2 Private E-2

Oh my bad, i forgot to send the logs for

    SUPERAntiSpyware
    Malwarebytes
    ComboFix

But On the forum it says (dont run root repleal with 64x systems.) Re-running the scans to get the logs. And I was not told to run ComboFix - via forum. Until told to do so.

Working on those now and re-posting after they are done.

I hope I did this right.
    1) Went into the disc.
    2) To the command prompt
    3) Ran bootrec.exe /fixmbr, it said it was finished. No logs created, searched to see if the command created one. It didnt I dont think...?

    4) Ran MBRcheck after logging back in.
    5) attached MBR log.

You need to now re-run TDSSKiller and have it fix this that you skipped before:

Then attach the new log please.

    Java(TM) 6 Update 26 <--- Uninstall outdated Java.

I would also like for you to re-scan with Malware Bytes and attach that log too please.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost
    • O1 - Hosts: 66.197.194.231 www.google-analytics.com.
    • O1 - Hosts: 66.197.194.231 ad-emea.doubleclick.net.
    • O1 - Hosts: 66.197.194.231 www.statcounter.com.
    • O1 - Hosts: 69.72.252.254 www.google-analytics.com.
    • O1 - Hosts: 69.72.252.254 ad-emea.doubleclick.net.
    • O1 - Hosts: 69.72.252.254 www.statcounter.com.
    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
    • O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [dplaysvr] C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\dplaysvr.exe (User 'SYSTEM')
    • O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [dplaysvr] C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\dplaysvr.exe (User 'Default user')
    • O15 - Trusted Zone: *.clonewarsadventures.com
    • O15 - Trusted Zone: *.freerealms.com
    • O15 - Trusted Zone: *.soe.com
    • O15 - Trusted Zone: *.sony.com

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    DirLook::
    C:\ProgramData\l

    Folder::
    c:\programdata\F4D55EFF000435DB000A6DA3B4EB2331
    C:\Windows\assembly\tmp\U

    File::
    c:\programdata\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\BD95.tmp
    c:\programdata\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\BD84.tmp
    C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\dplaysvr.exe
    C:\Windows\assembly\tmp\{1B372133-BFFA-4dba-9CCF-5474BED6A9F6}
    C:\Windows\assembly\temp\@
    C:\Windows\assembly\temp\cfg.ini
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\60EM0.com.b

    Registry::
    [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "dplaysvr"=-
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}]
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

Reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Are you running analyse.exe by using right click and selecting Run As Administrator?

You need to finish the rest of Kestrel13!'s instructions in message # 19 and attach the new MGlogs.zip.

Before we continue I would like for you to use MSConfig to put this machine back into normal start up mode

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :files
    C:\Windows\assembly\temp\U

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into notepad, save it as something appropriate and attach it into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Still being redirected?

Please do the below so that we can boot to System Recovery Options to run a scan.

For x32 (x86) bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.
For x64 bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.

Enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
    • Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
    • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    • Select your user account an click Next.

On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:
    • Select Command Prompt
    • In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
    • The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
    • Select "Computer" and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
    • In the command window type e:\frst.exe (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
    • The tool will start to run.
    • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach this file to your next reply. (See: How to attach)

If you are still having redirection problems, which browser are you using when this occurs? Is it only with Firefox or does it happen with Internet Explorer too? DO NOT open both browsers at the same time to test this. Only use one browser and exit it before trying the other.

Also I see you are downloading and possibly using illegal copies of Windows ( re: C:\Users\Chris\Downloads\Windows7Prof64x.iso ). You need to read the below! We will not work pirated Windows system.

Warning about Porn, Keygens, Cracks, and other Illegal Software

I use only firefox, I am not sure if it's on explorer as well. I tried what my friend recommending, and made a 2nd windows user and it did not happen then.

And my copy of windows isn't illegal I obtained it through my university, it shouldn't be illegal... off the schools software site.

Okay so Firefox itself is infected and it needs to be removed.

We are going to be uninstalling your old version of FireFox and installing the new version. So do the below to save bookmarks:
    • Run FireFox and click Bookmarks.
    • Then select Organize Bootmarks.
    • Then on the next window click File and then select Export. Save the bookmarks.html file to your Desktop for later use in importing.
Now download and save the installer for the current version of FireFox but DO NOT install it yet. Get it here: Mozilla Firefox 11.0 Final

You will need exit FireFox now and use Internet Explorer to continue with the below until we reinstall FireFox.

Start by uninstalling FireFox and then reboot. Do not skip the reboot.

After reboot, delete the below folders:
    C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\extensions

Now reinstall FireFox from the file previously downloaded.
Import your bookmarks file. (similar process to exporting).

See how things are working with Firefox now.

On behalf of Chaslang you are most welcome. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
