My mother who is physically far away from me needs your help. I'm trying to help her via emails with no avails. she got this continuous popup saying
(critical system virus TROJAN,warning Win 32 Agent.azsy) need PERSONAL ANTIVIRUS

I keep thinking it's just advertising to buy antivirus software as why would a true hacker aka criminal have mercy and suggest to its victim/prey a solution? My mom thinks it's a true virus -she has hard time going to certain sites if I understand her correctly. Plse confirm which one you think it is to put my mom in peace until we figure this out for good if we could.

She is already thinking of tossing my pc away and getting a new one :( She is not as computer savvy as I'm. How can you direct your help for someone who is not computer savvy. I tried to tell her to run Adware, Spybot S & D under safe mode, run a full-system scan via AVG anti-virus which she has. Also how does one know if their AVG is updated on daily basis. I've Avast and there is a daily popup. not sure about AVG. Anyone that could know?

Can U send me a program that can run a log to see what could be residing in her hard-drive. I did it once as per your instructions, and it really helped.

Thank you and God bless you all!

Your best course of action is to have her become a member here at MG's. Then any problems she has running our cleaning procedures you can assist her via email. We will want her ( as we do anyone ) to first do the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

she is already overwhelmed, don't want her becoming a member. I'm her daughter and I do everything for her, I'm not working and have lots of time on my hands ;) so it's ok. I'll just forward your emails and explain it in laymen's terms if need arises.
thanks for the link. will forward it to her now. so do you think it's a virus given your experience w/others who have gotten same/similar non-stop popups? can you reply to the other 2 questions within the original posting? thanks

You know what I'm looking at the link, it's too overwhelming for me, a computer savvy person. she would go out of her mind, as it's she said she is tired. remember she is 67 yrs old and english is not her native language ;) plse. send me a simpler link if any.

The Read and Run instructions are very simple and straight forward. You just have to work your way thru it as thousands of others have, even those who are complete novices with computers. The most important thing is to get us the requested logs for her system.

you've to remember she doesn't know what windows system she has so that is a real novice. but ok, I'm reading thru it and dissecting what applies to her. so you didn't reply, what do you feel it's a virus or just annoying advertisement?

Frankly I won't know until I see the logs. She can find what OS she has by simply right clicking My Computer and clicking on properties.
