I use Winpatrol and a warning popped up saying a filename of hyonzi.exe was trying to add itself to my startup programs and I denied this several times. I then ran a scan with Malwarebytes and it said I had a Trojan.ZbotR.Gen infection. I tried removing it, scanned again and the same infection popped up. I ran Malwarebytes again it seemed to remove the Trojan and subsequent scans showed no other infection. As a precaution I then ran Avira and it detected TR/PSW.Zbot.4646 which I then moved to quarantine. Attached are my logs (2 of the Malwarebytes, one showing the infection, the other clean). Also, Root Repeal would lock up my computer every time I tried to scan even after disabling Avira, so no log has been attached. Winpatrol has been running throughout this entire process, so if that's a problem please let me know. Any assistance you could provide would be helpful, thanks in advance. Also of note I have not noticed any slowdowns or unusual things so far. As a precaution so far I've already changed the few passwords/logins to sites which I had saved in firefox.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your logs look to be pretty good right now. Just the below folder is of question:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Buemf

    What is in this folder?

Nothing is in there right now, but the folder was created around the time the alert from winpatrol was popping up. So if the logs look ok, can I assume that winpatrol served its purpose by blocking the .exe from running on startup and preventing further damage?

    Then delete this folder.

    Looks like it.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Ok, so I'm going thru the final steps now and checking out the post on protection. I'm going to run full scans tomorrow just to make sure everything is still ok. Thanks again for taking the time to look at the logs, I really appreciate it.

Actually one other alert started popping up when I was installing the various programs to obtain the logs to attach. I've been getting a Winpatrol file type change alert.

    "
The program currently associated withe this file type is:
Run a DLL as an App
    Microsoft Corporation
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ieframe.dll,OpenURL%|

A change was made to use the following program for this file type.
Run a DLL as an App
    Microsoft Corporation
    rundll32exe ieframe.dll,OpenURL %|
    "

And then it asks me if this change is ok. Any suggestions on what to do here?

Something was just putting the setting back to a Windows default. There is no real difference between those two other than the 1st has the full path to the files. You can either block the change to leave it how you know have it set which is typical.
