Trouble installing Intel PRO/100 Adapter NDIS driver

I recently installed an English version of XP Pro on my Japanese Toshiba, which initially came with a Japanese OS. It's a model of Toshiba Portege notebook that's sold only in Japan so there is no support offered by Toshiba except in Japan and in Japanese.

After installing the new OS I found myself in need of some drivers. I found all the drivers I needed on the Japanese Toshiba site and successfully installed all but one.

Most of the drivers I downloaded included an "Install.exe" file or a "Setup.exe" file in the folder after being unpacked. Installation was just a matter of clicking on these "exe" files.

The driver for the Ethernet LAN was another story however. After unpacking the driver file I downloaded, I got the following files:

    e100b325.cat
    e100b325.din
    e100b325.inf
    e100b325.sys
    e100bmsg.dll
    intelnic.dll
    PROUnstl.exe
    rev.txt

The technical support staff at Toshiba in Canada told me that the driver should have installed automatically when I unpacked the downloaded file. I've tried unpacking the driver several times but the LAN device still shows up with a question mark next to it in the Windows Device Manager.

Could anyone one fill me in on how to install this driver?

    Thanks.

    Hello/Welcome

try this to manually install the driver,

Open Device Manager and the LAN device thats got the ! mark, this gives you a devices property window, click the driver tab and you will have an option to Update Driver, click that the Hardware Wizard screen will popup and choose the Install from a list or specific location > browse to the location you saved that unzipped folder to and once opened you should see tha e100b325.inf file highlight that and click next then follow the rest of the prompts.

    Thanks a bunch Halo.

I wasn't confident anyone would actually respond to such a basic question. Thanks so much for taking the time. Nice and easy instructions. I wonder why the fellow at Toshiba couldn't answer my question. Toshiba obviously needs a few real geeks on their suppport staff. Perhaps they're just too cheap to hire any.
