I took my computer over to my friends house to reformat my computer (cuz he knows how), and we put windows Xp on my computer, but I left my cd key at my house... As it turns out, i lost my cd key, and in the procces of looking for it, I lost the cd. I have a Windows 98 cd but since i already put windows Xp on it, it says Insert Service pack cd 1 but I dont have the cd, and when I exit out, it just reboots... Is there a way to reformat while im in this position?

Use a boot disk to boot into DOS anf format. If you don't have a computer with an older OS you can go to bootdisk.com to download and make the boot disk. Make a windows 98se boot disk.

Once you boot of the disk, simply type "format C:". In the event the partition is bigger then 32GB you'll have to go into fdisk first and resizes the partitions because unlike Windows XP, 98 doesn't support NTFS.

What the heck are you talking about? Did you mean to put that on a diffrent thread or something? He asked how to format, not get system information.
