Trouble with a virtual machine

I installed VMware Workstation and got the virtual computer running (installed Windows XP Home). I can switch in and out of the window (between VM and my actual computer) normally, however I am trying to run a game on the VM and a game on my normal computer.. When I have the game on my normal computer up it seems to lock the VM where it won't let me reach it again (although it shows the screen - it just looks frozen). I just want to be able to switch out between them, or leave the two games running for the night.

Any ideas on what would be causing this freezing? I don't think its a lack of power because I allotted it 1,200 MB of memory, and gave it 2 processors.

My comp is 2.33Ghz quad core w/ 4 GB DDR3 ram so yeah..

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Also I'm running into issues running the game in the VM too.. Its saying:

    "Warning: Nothing will be rendered.
The reference rendering device was selected, but your computer only has reduced-functionality reference device installed. Install the DirectX SDK to get the full reference device."

I installed DirectX, and thought maybe it had something to do with the virtual computer not noticing my graphics card.. but it supplies its own: "VMware SVGA II." I tried downloading the NVIDIA drivers for my gfx card but it wouldn't recognize anything other than the default VM one. (Or at least I don't know how to force it to show, or even know if you can make the VM recognize it in the first place)

first.. you can't directly use the gfx card you have in your system with the vm.. it'll emulate its own gfx card which needless to say can't run much if any game :( as for the vm crashing or freezing when you game on ur normal os.. which version of vmware do you have?? and which os are you emulating..

Yeah, I thought that might be the case for the gfx card.. The game is a very small free MMORPG though, so I think it should be able to run it anyways. >.>; Is there any way to get rid of the reduced-functionality or is that just because its an emulated computer and won't allow it?

The freezing usually happens when I turn on my game from the regular computer though, and won't let me switch back to the VM screen.

My VMware is 6.0.5 build 109488 and I emulated XP Home.
