Trouble with .AVI files

    After I upload video taken from my Canon digital camera, I go to the folder where the files were saved. If I open any folder in which an .avi file is displayed, I receive a DEP error and everything closes down. Any thoughts on why this is happening or how to fix it without turning off DEP?

    Are you using the Canon software when this happens? If so...try uninstalling and reinstalling the Canon Software suite.

    I use ZoomBrowser EX to upload the movies and pics. That program isn't even open when I run into the problem though. I will try it and see what happens. After reading numerous articles online, it sounds like it might be a codec issue, but I don't really know what codecs are or how to update/fix them.

    According to Wikipedia:
    Basicly codecs allow a video player to interpret the video file's
    compression system.
