Since my power went out for a week after the hurricane, my monitor doesn't power up correctly. I get a diskette failure message with F1 to continue and F2 to set up. The screen stays blank. Can anyone help?

Try to disconnect the monitor, have a good look at the socket, clean it up if needed and re-connect it. Try that firstly.

Could be a dead BIOS battery. That is a coin shapped battery in the lower right hand side of a standard desktop motherboard. Have you tried F2 for setup? Your computer may be trying to boot from the floppy drive.

Can you give a little more information? Type of computer, Operating System...

It is a Dell inspirion 530. Operating system is vista. Monitor is a Dell E207WFP. I do click on F2, but I don't know what I am looking at. When I press the OSB button, it says it is in powersave and to press any key. Then after a while, I press the key again and I get a Diskette 0 error message, then prompted for F1 or F2. At F1, eventually my desktop comes up, but only after I press the OSB button to Analog input. It used to come up automatically when I powered on the computer.
