Trouble with S Video

I am running a Toshiba Sattelite P305D with Windows 7 64x.
I am trying to connect my VIZIO HD TV to my laptop through SVIDEO, in order to simply watch movies via netflix, but am encountering some very frustrating issues.
When connected via S Video, the computer will not so much as recognize the TV as being connected, or anything on the S Video line for that matter.
This, upon further inspection, is not an isolated issue, but has not been solved ANYWHERE.
I have tried pressing FN+F4 + F5, Tried looking for the registry key TMM (It does not exist), and tried restarting, as well as checking my drivers and checking refresh rates and resolutions.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm almost done with this, sigh.

the s-video port driver may not be compatible with the TV.

recently, I setup a friend's desktop pc to connect to his 42" panasonic. We bought a video card for his desktop which came with some nice software that helped make the connection. originally, we had it connected through s-video but then tried vga (he has a vga connect on the tv). surprisingly the vga connect was much much better in terms of resolution.

as you know, your tv dosn't have a vga port but does have computer rgb. You can purchase this adapter http://compare.ebay.com/like/130473782769?ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar and give it a go.

 

I was hoping I could resolve this without purchasing additional cables, but I'll give it a go.
From what I've read, I don't think the adapter is compatible with any HDTV's.
Toshiba Laptops tend to be full of little "Catches" like this.

welcome. yes, since it would be a vga connect, the movies wouldn't display in HD.

Amazon has some inexpensive models. We chose standard shipping (5-8 business days) but received it on the 2nd day.
