    Hi,

I just formatted my computer, before I did so I was running my monitor at 1280 by 1024 but now I can't even use that coz it maxes out at 1024 by 768. the video card that I have is:

Video Cards GPU Integrated Video 650G
and my montior is a NEC multisynch 97F.

I installed the drivers for SiS650 and for the monitor as well. If I disable the SiS650 driver then I run my monitor at 1280 by 1024 and higher but the quality is VERY POOR (it kinds keeps flickering, and for example I am watch something on it, I can see the frames).

Before formatting, I remember I never had the SiS 650 driver to begin with and it ran fine.

The only one thing is that I had WinXP home before and now I have professional but I dont think that should do anything.??

ANYONE, PLEASE HELP, I'll go crazy staring at ths resolution.??????

Could also try lowering the refresh rate.

You should really try to run your refresh rate higher...
    Did directX fix it?

well, some monitors can only do 1280x1024 at 60hz or 75hz or whatever. You'd have to consult your monitors documentation.

yeah I am gonna try putting the refresh rate up and installing directX....once I get back home ...in couple of hours....
thanks for the suggestions.....but if there is anythign else that might help.....the suggestions are more than welcome...

... also, you might check your device manager and make sure your monitor is actually USING the drivers you installed for it. Often Windows has to be told to use a driver other than "plug and play monitor."

I've seen this change help once in a while.

What brand/model of computer is this, or at least, the motherboard brand and model?

Now, if you disable the SIS 650 driver and it works, then its obviously a video driver problem, as you are forcing Windows to use the UGA driver, which for the first time in Windows XP, supports high color and resolution, but not hardware acceleration. Thats why you see the flickering and redrawing, because the OS is hardware accelerated.

    MotherBoard MB 650GXG FSB 400 DDR 266 GA-8S650GXMP
    CPU Intel P4 2.2 Ghz 512K L2 Cache 400FSB

I tried intalling DirectX...but that doest help....I am pretty sure that before I formated the computer I was running without the driver and was worrking fine with 1280 by 1024.

Also I really doubt that it is the wrong driver, as I got it from the manufacturers site (Cicero, Future Shop Brand)

Cicero isn't the manufacturer. Nor is Future Shop.

    Its a Gigabyte motherboard.

Its plain as day really. If you disable a driver, and the problem goes away, then the driver is at fault. If you didn't have the driver before, there are a couple reasons:

    1. You got it from MS, which is a risky venture at best.
    2. You used the UGA driver in XP, which doesn't support hardware acceleration, and is choppy.

Anyway, here are the drivers for your board. I'd get all that apply. Pay special attention to the SIS and AGP driver.

Thanks Adranylne......I updated all my drivers from the site......

running with the new SiS drivers now....but the result is the same.....

I wish I remember what i was running before.....probably some kind of default driver ....???
thanks a lot for your help though.....any more suggestions are welcome....willing to try anything now.....:(
