Hi everyone, I'm new here! So I wasn't sure where to post this at, but my mom has a problem with her computer. Her harddrive just recently crashed she found out, so she had a new one installed and had all her old files put on it. When she got the computer back and got on the internet (via IE), she told me that the pages were scrolling very slow. She said no matter how many times or how fast she spun the scroll wheel on her mouse, the pages would always go down real slow. I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or software or what, which is the reason I wasn't sure where to post, but any information on what the problem may be and how to fix it would be very helpful. Thank you all!!!! http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    Hi and welcome to MGs

    Which OS is she using?

one quick thing to do as the OS has been re-installed it to goto the manufacturer of the graphic card you have and download and install the latest drivers, if you dont know how to check for this then this software is free and helps find what hardware is installed in your PC Everest Home

also as the OS has been re-installed do you know if the chipset drivers for the motherboard have been installed as well as these control alot of the hardware liek USB etc ... again you will be able to find out what chipset is on the motherboard via Everest.

just holler if you get stuck and we will endevour to type you through it ;)

If scrolling is "choppy", the video drivers need to be installed/reinstalled.

Alright guys, thanks for the information. I used the website and downloaded the updated drivers. Well, actually, I walked my mom through it on the phone, so I'm pretty sure they were the right ones. Well, bad news...same result. Here is what I know: She is running on Windows XP (sorry, should have mentioned that in my first post). She has had two other videocards put in it, both new and working, and had the same result. So that rules out a bad video card. She had it hooked up to a different monitor, same result. That rules out a bad monitor. She said it does the same thing when she scrolls with the arrow keys on her keyboard rather than use her mouse. That rules out the mouse. And like I said, the most recent drivers were updated to the best of my knowledge for both the chipset on the Motherboard and the videocard. So, as far as I'm concerned, that takes care of the monitor, the mouse, the videocard, and the drivers. I'm lost now, I have no idea what the problem could be. So if I'm mistaken in what I have said in this post about ruling anything out or any of you guys know what I can try next, please do tell. All the information and help I can get is much appreciated. Thanks so much! :D
