I will make two statements. Simply tell me if you believe the statements to be true or false. Thanks for your participation. :)

Question one - 3rd parties exist to provide a trash can for votes.

Question two - The majority of the people who vote 3rd party are doing so with the sole intention of throwing away their vote.

    Question 1- No
Question 2- No...I do not think that is their intention. Unfortunately, I think that is the reality, though.

Awwww come on, only one person? Maybe I just haven't given it enough time, but I hope I get more opinions than one. For me this is all about volume of opinions. My intention is actually to 'prove a point' elsewhere but I need opinions, and lots of them, to do so.

Thank you for participating though, LauraR.

Weekends tend to be slowish, so need to allow folk a few days.

    1. False, 3rd parties actually think they can win at times.
    2. True/False, in some cases people may trash a vote with a 3rd party but in other cases folk just dont vote for anyone if they wish to demonstrate their party is nto moving in the right direction.

Question one - False (as in false hope)

Question two - True (it does usually turn out that way)

The Republican party started as a 3rd party...

Question one: Not even a little.

Question two: Maybe some ignorant ones, but mostly we vote for a different candidate based on their stance on the issues and its relation to our own feelings when neither of the two mainstream candidates are what we want to see in office.

Assuming, of course, you're talking only about Presidential elections...in more local elected office there are a LOT of third party candidates voted in.

You assume correctly. :) I'm going to assume your answer to question 2 is basically a no. You say 'maybe some', and the question was about the majority, so...

    So far we have...

    Question 1:
    No - 4
    Yes - 0

    Question 2:
    No - 2
    Yes - 1
    On the fence/undecided - 1

    Thanks everyone
    :)

    No, and no.

To not vote is to throw it away. (In my opinion.) I know it is not going to happen, but I would love to see a 3rd party candidate come along that I would love to vote for.

It can leave a bad taste in your mouth to have to vote for the lesser of two evils...
