Cold is Relative......it all depends on where you live!


60 above zero:
Floridians turn on the heat
People in Michigan plant gardens.

50 above zero:
Gulf Coast people shiver uncontrollably.
People in Kalamazoo sunbathe.

40 above zero:
Italian & English cars won't start.
People in Michigan drive with the windows down.

32 above zero:
Distilled water freezes.
The water in the Black River gets thicker.

20 above zero:
Arizonians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, and wool hats.
People in Michigan throw on a flannel shirt.

15 above zero:
New York landlords finally turn up the heat.
People in Michigan have the last cookout before it gets cold.

Zero:
People in Tucson all die.
Michiganders close the windows.

10 below zero:
Californians fly away to Mexico.
People in Michigan get out their winter coats

25 below zero:
Hollywood disintegrates.
The Girl Scouts in Michigan are selling cookies.........door to door.

40 below zero:
Washington DC runs out of hot air.
People in Michigan let the dogs sleep indoors.

100 below zero:
Santa Claus abandons the North Pole.
Michiganders get upset because they can't start their diesel trucks.

460 (-459.67 F below zero):
ALL atomic motion stops (absolute zero, zero on the Kelvin scale.)
People in Michigan start saying, "Cold 'nuff fer ya?"

500 below zero:
Hell freezes over.
Michigan public schools will open 2 hours late

(I really do care about the weather, but I'm leaving for Florida next week, so I can tough it out the rest of this week) :-D

Michigan can be an awful place to live in winter and it can also be the best place.This is called the "Winter wonderland" for a reason. I wonder why I stay here.

 

What do folks up there do when it is around 100° with a heat index of 110°? They melt.

I do remember being in Palm Springs CA, it was a beautiful sunny day, temps around 50°, I had a light jacket on, driving around with the window down. Peeps there were dressed in ski pants, down jackets, gloves, and hats. :cool

 

Me, I'm happy as a clam!!! :-D

Yesterday our high was 16F with wind chill at 2F. :cry I've planned my holiday baking over three days so I can have the oven on as much as possible. LOL

 

:eek just read a bit of this thread and had a shock, i was thinking °C, so you guys were literally boiling!!

 

Meh...water boils at 212F. Which at this point I think I would take over this unrelenting 30% below normal temperature crap going on!

 

In Michigan we complain about the weather but we love it. We complain when it snows. We complain when it burys us. We complain when we have to shovel it. We complain when we don't get any of it. We love Michigan and we love to complain just so others think we don't like the way things are.Michigan , The winter wonderland. Skating , skiing,sleding, cutting down trees for firewood,for christmas,rideing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh.
Port Huron the town congress forgot or never knew about.

 

Nah...I just hate snow and cold. Anyone who wants to have it is more than welcome, but they have to trade me their non-snow warmth for it. LOL

 

Think "global warming"

 

I miss the HBT.

How about we just call it Climate Change.
