Try to burn CD and computer shuts down...

Not sure whats going on but this is 3rd try at posting this. I am logged in and posting rules say I am good to go. I will try again.

Just finished a new build: MSI K9N Platinum, Athlon 64 X2 4200+ with retail cooler, 2 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800, West/Dig 500 gb SATA H/D, 2 Lite-On LH-18A1P burners, Seasonic M12 SS 600w P/S, XFX 7900GS PCIE card.....

I tried my first CD burn last night and about 20 seconds into the burn the computer just shuts down, BAM, no power. Looked around and the monitor is on, the UPS is fine, power in house is OK. I tried a total of 3 times with same results.....gets into burn cycle and shuts down like the plug was pulled. Ran out of time to play with it and am now at work.

Any suggestions?

I will try swapping drives first and will try eliminating any other power drain on the same feed from the P/S.

The drive will play and rip CDs fine, but am having issues with DVD playback. I just get a dim image, kind of "solarized" looking and no sound using both Windows Media Player and the Nero software that came with the burners. I get sound from both WMP and Nero when playing music and from videos on the hard drive. Not sure what I could have deleted or changed that could screw this up.

Suggestions?
