One of the websites I frequent recently underwent a facelift and change in management. They've had several login issues which seem to be corrected.

However, when I try to post in the forums section, I still get this error, which I was getting during their tweaking phase:

"The host from which you are accessing the board is not recognized as a valid host. This is more than likely related to a firewall issue that is blocking the referer variable. Check your firewall settings and try again."

I have rebooted. They have no clue why I am still geting this error. Nothing in my computer has changed.

I've turned off my pop up blocker for that site and have no clue about a firewall.

    Thoughts?

    Hi

Do some of the basic cleaning steps of deleting temps and cookies.

Check your security settings in your browser ( also what browser you using ) Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > and set the slider to Medium or lower, if it works lower then try adding the url to the website to your Security tab > Trusted Sites.

Could be a cached DNS issue, so flush your DNS cache, close your broswers > open a command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter ( if your using Vista you will need to rigth click the CMD shortcut and choose run as admin )

Does the managment at this site have help for you on this?

Okay I tried all that and NOW, I can't log into my Windows Live Messenger! I tried to "sign up" for the latest version, thinking that was the problem, I got an error that said "Windows is not accepting HTTP (port 80), HTTPS...."etc which is false, else I'd not be able to post here.

The error message I get in Windows Live Messenger is 80048820.

So, one of the things I did messed with my connection to Windows Live Messenger and still has not resolved my Forums issue on the other site.

At this point, I'd almost be willing to try remote assistance.

have you tried disabling your firewall for testing purposes (if you have one - if so, what - zone alarm, etc)? what browser are you using to access the site? what site, have you tried a different browser (to see if you can post)?

i'm gone for the night, but i'm sure you'll get replies. g/l, sos

    Hi

What was the Privacy slider originally set to? change it back, but from medium to lower cookies and http are not blocked with this setting, higher yes.

Check your date and time is accurate?

Re-register softpub.dll which is a dll linked to that MSN Messenger error, goto start run and type regsvr32 softpub.dll and hit enter, and restart messenger.

Have you changed any LAN settings to your internet ISP in trying to fix this? as an incorrect proxy setting if ISP uses this will cause this error.

Which browser you using? if IE7 check that SSL2.0 is ticked in Internet Options > Advanced as MSN used SSL2.0

What modem/router do you have, is it a Netgear? have you tried restarting it.

*do one thing at a time from both sosamans and my posts and if you use other methods to try and fix this please tell us what they are.
