    Hello,

Its been years since I used this site to clean and protect my laptop, Im happy to say I am still running smoothly and virus free and I want to thank you guys for that.

My current issue is with my mothers laptop, while i did try to protect her laptop, she downloaded dozens of games from different sites. Needles to say the machine has slowed to a crawl. It is almost impossible to run more than one program and downloading anything is an all day affair. I can even get youtube videos to play(which should not be a problem considering I have extremely fast internet).

I believe I have deleted all the programs but the problems still persist. I ran all the malware removal tools and am attaching the logs.

I did have an issue with Hitman Pro tool though, I followed instructions, but when the scan was finished, I did not have an option to ignore the results. instead i was prompted to select the free trial. At that point the program automatically corrected the problems. I did not reboot after, but ran another scan...I have attached both logs, 0130111_0135 is the initial and 0130111_0141 is the second.

Since I am only able to upload 5 logs, i did not upload tsskiller because the scan came up empty. I apologize , and I hope this does not adversely effect the results and subsequent malware removal.

Thank you and I look forward to your instructions.

    Aaron

We will cleanup what we can see but I have to say up front that this is a slow single core PC with and AMD processor trying to run Windows 7. Probably was not a good choice for Acer to do this in my opinion.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://search.conduit.com?SearchSource=10&ctid=CT3220468
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {7473b6bd-4691-4744-a82b-7854eb3d70b6} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {9D425283-D487-4337-BAB6-AB8354A81457} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {9D425283-D487-4337-BAB6-AB8354A81457} - (no file)
O18 - Protocol: dssrequest - (no CLSID) - (no file)
O18 - Protocol: sacore - (no CLSID) - (no file)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run it by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7, or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box

    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar

    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

After reboot the machine seems to load programs and run much quicker. I tested downloading a youtube video again, and while it downloaded in no time at all, I was unable to watch in HD mode(the video lagged way behind the audio). I suspect that this is because of the processor speed, but I could have sworn that I used to be able to watch HD videos.

Thank you for all your help

Did you run OTM more than once? It also appears that it did not run properly as many things I was trying to fix did not get fixed. Did you have problems? If yes, please describe. Also make sure all protection software it shutdown and try again. Also be sure to use Run As Administrator. If OTM runs properly, you will have to get another new MGtools log too following the same instructions.

I also noticed the below lines were not fix in HijackThis. Did you miss them? Were all browsers closed and protection disabled before trying to fix?
O18 - Protocol: dssrequest - (no CLSID) - (no file)
O18 - Protocol: sacore - (no CLSID) - (no file)

So yes, I did have a problem running OTM, It froze, so I ran it again. I also had the same problem this time when i re-did eveything. I also forgot to shut down protection software which I did this time. other than those problems, I followed your instructions to a T. As for those 2 lines of code, they refuse to be fixed, I ran HJT a number of times and checked those two boxes but they keep coming back. I attached the new logs below.

    Thanks

Okay OTM is still not running properly so things are not getting fixed. Let's try a different tool from OldTimer.

Now shut down your protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) to avoid possible conflicts.

    Please download OTL by OldTimer.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the OTL icon on your desktop. (If running Vista, Win7, or Win8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    • Copy the text in the code box below and paste it into the http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/66/otlcustomfix.png text-field.
    Code:
    :Files
    C:\ProgramData\Tarma Installer
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Ask.com
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Conduit
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Zylom Games

    • Click the OK button (upon reboot).
    • When OTL is finished, Notepad will open. Close Notepad.
    • A log file will be located at C:\_OTL\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log, where mmddyyyy_hhmmss is the date of the tool run.
    • Attach this log to your next message. (See: How to attach)
Also I just noticed that you are using MSconfig and have your PC in Selective Startup Mode. Please run MSconfig now and select Normal Startup.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the log from OTL
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

Same thing happened with OTL as OTM. It seems to get halfway through the process and freeze up. I turned off all protection programs and I'm running as an admin. I even tried OTM again but the same thing happened, I did not reboot so i didn't get a log for it, but I did include a screen shot of what happens. don't know if it will help at all.

Uninstall Avast and Advanced System Care and then reboot. After reboot, please rerun my last fix again.

uninstalled both protection programs. and re ran both OTL and OTM with the same results. sent screen shots of both. OTL seems to freeze on that same process every time.

Yes, it did. Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
