After I cleaned my computer with the use of the Read and Run Me First guide my father asked me to look at his as well. His computer is slightly on the older side and was running rediculously slow. I mean REDICULOUSLY slow! As it turns out, he had no running AntiVirus software and his computer was pretty loaded with trojans, malware, and adware. I ran all the programs suggested and will post the logs. So far, his computer seems to be faster, but I just want to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I don't have the SuperAntiSpyware because the screen kept going blue and I kept getting the message below when I tried to delete the problem files. The scan itself revealed 23 files that were harmful.

    STOP:c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x00000000 x 0x00000000). This system has been shut down.

With that said... I'll post the logs that I do have... Thanks for any help offered!

Well, I am not seeing any malware in your logs. But it does bother me that SAS found so many files and possibly did not remove them ( in spite of my not seeing them ).

Part of your problems is the amount of ram you have:
    Code:
    Total Physical Memory 256.00 MB
    Available Physical Memory 53.62 MB
However, I would like you to do an online scan:

    Using BitDefender Online Scan.

OK, I ran the BitDefender scan, but I wasn't able to save it as a .txt format file. I tried, but it looks very funky. I was able to save it as an .html file which looks normal, but it won't let me post it here as an attachment. I can upload it online if needed.

Well, good. It found a few things not seen in your other logs. Tell me how things are running now.

Yesterday, his computer was flying compared to how it had been. This afternoon when I turned it on I got the Windows Updates that I did which I believe upgraded him to XP3. Also, without my knowing it he went and upgreated to IE8. These updates seem to have slowed it down just a touch, but I think he'll still be very happy with it now. Am I all set to go through the final steps of uninstalling programs, etc?

Thanks again, you've been a TREMENDOUS help!

You are most welcome. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
