I have over the years installed and uninstalled google stuff and looked to see if there were copies and junk I could get rid of and searched google on my computer and found 248 files!!!

    I have xp pro. sp3.

I tried to delete and got an error message saying cannot delete file;cannot read from the source file or disk. Do I need these 248 files? If not, how can I safely dispose of them?

g'day texasharper if you have completely uninstalled all google software from your computer via the add and remove programs menu. you may want to look in your programs folder and remove any left over folders you find in there. also go into documents and settings and browse through the folders in there and delete any google folders you find.once you have done this if you haven't already download and install ccleaner " http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_No_Yahoo_Toolbar_English_d4191.html "and with this program using the registry scan to rid you of any disused file paths. good luck
