TS-H552B Cant burn CD's

Please help



My DVD burner will not read/burn CD’s anymore. It can still burn DVD disks but not CD’s.

When I put a CD into the drive the light just keeps flashing.



The drive is a Samsung TS-H552B



I have updated the firmware, but still no luck



Can anybody sort this?

Same here, only XP-Pro SP2

Everything was working dandy up until a couple weeks ago. I went to drop a new ubuntu cd and nothing happened... tried to burn a few files to disk and nothing.

I've updated / uninstalled / reinstalled drivers, nero software, updated firmware, rolled drivers back and forth... nada

and now it won't read a CD that my wifes accupuncturist gave her to copy and it's suddenly my fault that she can't get the copy.

I can't boot into any Linux live CD's, can't burn any CD (DVD works fine), can't read any CD-R or CD-RW (commercial cd's no problem, games, music, etc)

I've tried Sony, TDK and Office Depot generic disks and got nothing.

Just a pulsating green light, the spin and whir of the disk, and no cd/music/burning software will open while it's doing it's little dance.

I'm downloading different burning software to see if that helps...

I'm also going to uninstall Ulead DVD factory and see if that does anything (the only thing I can think of that has changed in the last month)

The PC was new in January, if I can't figure it out I'm taking it in for warranty checkups anyway. I'd just like to try and avoid that...

 

Something that worked for me a while ago. I swapped master to Slave ie. DVD/RW was Master and DVD/ROM was Slave , changed places and been ok ever since.. dont ask me why but it worked....

 

Starfox, have you tried another brand of media?

go the warranty option. Mine had the same symptoms after about 7 weeks of light to moderate use (ie. DVD fine, CD wouldn't recognise blank or burnt discs), turned out it is a problem with this drive, mine was replaced with a 552U model under warranty - perfect since!
