I got an email from a friend asking me if I had ever heard of TubeDimmer and/or FindWide. I haven't, so I'm posting here. Judging by how frantic she was (she called me literally seconds after she sent the email), I am presuming that either or both are either a virus or malware. She told me that she used Revo Uninstaller to remove both items, but is still wondering how they got on her computer. I think she was messing around on a "free trail game download" website and could have gotten it bundled with a game download. She uses Windows XP. Any information/help/tips would be greatly appreciated!

For information on TubeDimmer, go here and for FindWide go here. Both are browser hijackers and Revo may not have completely uninstalled them. Please advise your friend to not use "Express Install" and opt out of installing "bundled" software in the future. "Express Install" is exactly how a majority of malware finds it's way on to computers.

Thanks for the help! I went over to my friend's last Saturday and spent most of the afternoon removing the malware/garbage and (mock) scolding her for "playing where she shouldn't have been," a place a former teacher of mine called "The Computer Valley of Death," or in non-geek "Not-So-Free Software-Land."
