Tunneling Internet over LAN?

    Hey guys,

I have kind of a complicated question. The university I'm attending has several T1 lines going to different buildings. Our dorm has one, but it is quite bogged down and I'd like to do something about it. I have personal access to a work computer in one of our academic buildings that also has a separate T1 line, but is much less bogged down. I can access my work computer from my dorm room over LAN at very fast speeds, so I know they are networked.

Here's the question: is there any way I can tunnel through the network and use the T1 line from the academic building in my dorm to get a faster connection? My internet connection in my room is unbearably slow, and it's a pain knowing that the work computer has a much faster connection available.

Thanks a TON in advance for any help!

Just for future reference, I figured out how to do this.

I set up a network connection on the computer with the fast internet to accept incoming connections through VPN. Then, on my dorm computer, I set up a VPN connection, using the computer name of the host computer as the connection address and ZING! I'm now enjoying 30 Mbps download speeds :).

    Cheers!

dont think so man. you cant get the speed thru a tunnle. the speed all depends on the devices providing your connections. and as far as your internet connection in your dorm goes, theres probably a lot of people using it that slowing the speeds :/ usin up the bandwidth and stuff. go door to door and yell at them :O

Heres a bit more of how this is working probably. His pc's connection isn't gonna get a ton more bandwidth but heres what i imagine is happening. His dorm network is limited on internet bandwidth but internal campus traffic isn't limited. So by vpning to his work machine which probably isn't traffic limited he can download at full speed. Then traffic between work machine + dorm machine being internal traffic, won't be limted, thus giving him more download speed on such things.

But would that allow him to get a faster connection to the internet?
