Last summer, a random wild turkey started roaming the neighborhood (nobody knows where it came from as it's a very residential area, so it's not it could have escaped from a farm) it continued to roam for months. About a week before Thanksgiving my friend posted a picture of the turkey hanging by a police cruiser and said that the turkey needed police protection. I commented that's because dinner (that's what I nicknamed it LOL ) knew Thanksgiving was coming up!

I was talking with some friends tonight and for some reason the turkey was brought up. Someone mentioned nobody has seen the turkey in a while and that someone had set up a memorial for the turkey (who apparently had a real name, I don't remember what it was but it wasn't dinner LOL). I found this to be actually really funny that someone actually set up a memorial for a wild turkey.

One of my friends kept calling me mean because I'd refer to the turkey as dinner (lol) but I mean really, it's almost Thanksgiving and you'd think the turkey have some sense and go into hiding but I guess it didn't. :-D

Welp, the poor bird ended up on someone's plate by the looks of it. How awful. I much prefer pork or beef. :-D

I'm going to vote "flew the coop" as the likelier choice for a turkey in an urban setting, even in one where locals are happy to provide plentiful food. There's one other motivation that becomes primal, especially with a full-belly.

MMM, turkey... Always wanted to try a wild turkey (not the drink) vs a domesticated one. I love turkey about 1 or 2 times a year. :cool

I thought this but then again, it's a very residential setting and I'd have to say the nearest farm (type land) is probably a good 100 miles. Considering he was strolling around the place for probably a good solid 3 months before he disappeared leads me to believe someone wanted free Thanksgiving turkey. :-D
