Turn down the bass in Windows/WMP?

You can hear, even if you use the same headphones and song, turned low, a distortion as if you had bass turned up too much in WMP...what can you do to remedy this>?

 

Check and see if your audio output jack is pushed in all the way, or the wire might be faulty.

Go to your view menu (right click if you can't see it because of a skin) enhancements, then graphic equalizer. Also depending on what you have for a sound card, or onboard sound there might be a program that allows you to change the EQ system wide. Check for the name of your sound card in your start menu, and in there might be such a program.
