I work in a cubicle with a Windows 7 PC with a wired connection to the Internet. There is no wireless access in the building. I also take my tablet to work to play games on during quieter times of the day (yes this is permitted!) and when I take lunch at my desk. However I'm limited on what I can do on without it having internet access.

What would be the simplest, best way to connect my tablet to the internet under this setup?

I have several USB wireless adapters and I wondered if there would be a good way to use this to broadcast wireless access to the tablet. I'm not very familiar with networking, but I believe this would necessitate creating an 'ad hoc' network? Am I right and if so what would the steps be to get this done?

Dont do this. If you open a wireless network off your pc, with out your IT department knowing about it you will run into issues and i know if it happened in most of the places i worked at, i would be let go. I would recomend you really nicely ask your favorite it guy if theres an option to get you some internet via wifi, or see if you can tether your phone to get internet to the tablet via wifi if you have a smart phone.

At work here, we provide corporate wireless and "use what ever you want" wireless. But, yeah, just ask your friendly IT person. We are not evil. :-D
