Turning off and wont turn on..

hi i m just new here. I bought my new video card Palit gt 430 2gb 128bit few days ago and as i was playing skyrim or dragon age II my computer suddenly shutdown for no reason, but when i turned it back it wont start not unless i turn off my avr and turn it on again or plug out the cable wire and plug it in again. it happened to me today for 3 times, i notice my video card is hot i checked if it properly seated but it is still happening. what seems to be the problem?

Possible overheating. what are your CPU temps. What case and cooling do you have. Your new GPU may be kicking out more heat than your old. If you need an app to test look for coretemp

 

i monitored the temperature while im playing at high settings my video card's temp is 50 - 54 and my cpu is 39 - 46 ,is that bad? do you think power supply has to do with this? i have this generic powerlogic 550w power supply which is alamost 2 and a half year old and its fan is not working. do you think my psu is failing?

 

I would say get a replacement Power supply if one of your fans are not working the PSU is having a hard time keeping cool.But i looked at your temps Your Video card sounds fine and so does your cpu.Temps look ok.Check all of your Fans for dust and clean them off.Make sure they are held in place so they don't Spin at high speed if you use Air cans.MAX temp for a GPU is 160F if it gets as hot as that then your in trouble there.

 

I agree. Temps are all fine so overheating is not the issue. Swap your PSU. Look for a good brand like Antec or Corsair.

 

...OCZ are good too.
