Hey I was wondering if anyone could tell me, does it make more sense to learn Windows from the older versions through the newer? I mean it does to me, but am I missing out on a lot of OS secrets by not doing so? 7 is a bastard!

I personally think you should learn about Windows from the version you have. If you have Windows 7 available, then there is no point of trying to learn things about Windows XP or even older.

The same about application development; learn the newest development tools available.
