tv/monitor (dual display issue)

So I have a monitor & a TV hooked up. works great. only one problem. I'm watching something (TV show) online on one screen with it in full screen mode. then as soon as I start trying to type or anything on the other screen it takes the first back to "restore down size". How can I get the 1st screen to stay on full screen while working on the other screen. Any ideas would be helpful. :confused

Some more details will probably be helpful in getting an answer. Your OS? Your video card? What type of connections (DVI, VGA, etc.) are being used for the TV and monitor?

 

It is an old RCA TV using S-Video cable to a NVidia GeForce 8500GT. Monitor is an old EV700 w/ typical display Plug (9-pin I believe it is called but could be wrong). OS is Microsoft XP. Was there something else?
