What kind of shows does everyone like?

I like the crime shows. NCIS, Forensic Files, Investigators, L&O:SVU!

Daily Show is about the only thing I try to go out of my way to watch, though I'll DVR Stargate/Atlantis, and occasionally some stuff on Adult Swim.

I like a lot of shows on The history channel and on A&E. Law And Order, House, Cold Cases. Don't have much time to watch them though.

I used to like Horizon (Science program on BBC), but recently they've been dumbing it down way too much. The Sky at Night rocks (Patrick Moore plays the Xylaphone!). Other than the occasional documentary (not the normal Channel 5 "Nazi aliens faked the moon landing"), I don't watch anything.

    I watch the news too...

Depends on why I'm watching TV. Local news, national news. Hockey. Football (depending on who's playing). Monster Garage. American Chopper. A&E Biography. John Ratzenberger's Made in America.

CSI (except New York...LOVE Gary Sinese, but never home on Wednesday nights). Law & Order SVU and Criminal Intent. Criminal Minds. House. Las Vegas.

Mostly I watch TV because I'm bored, or have finished my book, or I'm working something boring like arena football or basketball. There isn't anything I go out of my way to record so I can watch it later.

I'v given up on TV,I just sit in a darkened room pointing my telescope at various peoples bedrooms, ohh wait a minute miss second floor six across has just got out of the shower...wheres the popcorn, wish I had a nice 10 refractor instead of this puny 5 inch reflector, maybe I'd get to see more women and have more focused relationships.

AND Stargate SG-1, the new Battlestar Galacta has been fun at times too. Desperate Housewives only because sometimes my girls make me....you know the routine...."Please,Daddy...(eyelashes and big smiles inserted here)"...and when the 21 and 18 year olds remember how to get to Dad all is lost.

Well apart from the obvious (pointing to his name), I enjoy science fiction shows like Stargate SG1, Lost in Space (when I'm in the mood), Alien Nation, Quantum Leap, and there are a ton others. I can't seem to think of them right now. :)

I also like the Law & Order saga and that does include the Trial by Jury series that only lasted one season. I finally got into Criminal Intent as well, but the other two I've enjoyed for quite some time. Every once in a while I get in the mood for the real crime shows like Cold Case File and Forensic Files. I can thank my ex for the latter.

    That's all for now. :)

  27. MrOrange22

    MrOrange22 Private E-2

ooooh, Quantum Leap, I haven't thought about that show in years. It's a classic!

There is a difference in the REAL crime shows compared to the scripted. I like both but there is something about watching a case that you know has happened, maybe it makes it a little more intense....

Same here. About the only time I watch regular T.V. is when I'm at someone elses' house and I don't have choice. Then I remember why I pat 80 bucks a month for satelite.

Very rarely a movie or Sci-fi. Don't really have the time, anyway.

Gotta mention Deadzone for me is the best sci-fi prog out there ATM and about the only one I watch these days, prolly not screening in the US anymore just started screening weekly in the UK on terrestrial at midnight

deserves a much earlier time if you ask me. :) ,I liked csi's but now the characters may as well look at you and narrate the story

junior CSI "I'll see if this bullet matches that gun,it does!,so proffessor plumb did it in the library with the gun"

Top CSI "No you stupid junior CSI I'v already worked out this whole case in my head and won the world chess championship,I'm now going to tell the viewers whats really going on while pretending to teach you where you have gone wrong"

  30. British TV Nut

I've only seen a couple of episodes of the DeadZone, and I liked from what I've seen. I still cannot get over the fact that the main character is played by Anthony Michael Hall. I would like to see more, but I cannot seem to get into the regular time it's on since I forget about it. Unless it's something that I've watched for quite a while, I won't remember. Oh well.

Oh and speaking of which I have enjoyed the 4400, but I didn't catch any of the second season since I watched the first season on DVD. I guess I'll have to buy the DVD set when it comes out. :)

Have to agree with you Rikky on DeadZone, caught the 1st run earlier this year and it was pretty good.. sadly as you say the hour that some shows are broadcast on UK TV leave alot to be desired, thankfully DVDR comes in handy.

also like Adryn.. I do like the SG series.... btw Adryn whats HDTV like any good, UK doesnt get it till next year, even tho some shows are available through the BBCs IMP service, we are slow as usual... I do now have a HDTV compatabile TV... pretty nifty it is too.

We`d be ok with most, as long as it was a Seinfeld episode without Seinfeld, and the Daily guy swallowed 3 tons of alum and his hateful mouth swelled shut. By the way...no dig intended, I know you folks north of the border have your own way of spelling things, but the last time I was in Canada ESPN spelled SportsCenter with the r after the e.

  36. ColonelAngus

How can you not like Cheers? It's such a great show. I hate the episodes with Shelly Long in them. I can't stand her. The ones with Rebecca are waaaaaaay better. You wouldn't watch Hockey or Sports Center? boo-urns I guess we'll have to get separate TV's if we ever live together. :D

John Stewart rules! Best news show ever! As for the r before the e... It was just a spelling mistake.

I was just bustin` on you for the spelling...I`ve been north of the border tonsa times and I know it can be a provincial thing. As for Stewart ruling....News Show? That`s like comparing Mad Magazine with the USNews & World Report. I`ve seen drunken blind dart throwers more accurate than that lmao. I think it`s no coincidence that Stewart and Satire...and for that matter s**t start with the same letter heh heh heh.

  44. ColonelAngus

You must be a Republican and a Bush supporter to not like John Stewart's Daily Show. The Daily Show makes fun of all parties and all political people, but he gets most of his material from Bush and the Repulicans. And that makes Republicans hate him and think he's not funny.

I think the show is pure genius in showing how bad politics are in the world these day.

  45. Sasquatch77

    Sasquatch77 MajorGeek

My political affiliation has absolutely nothing to do with my taste in television. The show is crap, plain and simple. I never cared for that type of alleged humor, and a smarmy, oily jerk like like him makes it even worse. I have this vision of Stewart spending hours in front of a mirror telling himself how much smarter he is than everyone else.

  46. MrOrange22

    MrOrange22 Private E-2

Stewart and Co. are childish and mock anything and everything. If everything is such a mockery here than why does he stay?

I cannot stomach that show anymore, it used to be funny.... but now the negativity and tone of the show make my head hurt.
