TV Wonder Elite BSOD on Install?

I'm at my wit's end with a tv-tuner I'm installing for my media center. ATI's customer care has been absolutely no help. I generally consider myself pretty good at troubleshooting, but I have no idea what the problem is, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

I'm installing an ATI TV Wonder Elite PCI card. Every single time I try to install the drivers, I get the following BSOD:

    MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

I have absolutely no idea why. I'm running XP Pro w/ Windows Media Center 2005. I have an Athlon64 3000+ in an MSI K8N Neo 2. I'm also using an M-Audio 7.1, and a GeForce 6600GT. Everything else installs perfectly. I have my latest chipset drivers. I have restored fail-safe settings in BIOS. I have reinstalled my OS. At ATI's insistance, I've replaced the card with another. I'm really running out of options here. It happens whenever the card is accessed, as I can install the drivers in safe mode fine - when it tries to actually run them (when booting back into normal mode) is when I get the problem. I have used window's driver finder to install it, I've used ATI's supplied disc, I've used ATI's latest Catalyst drivers. All are producing this BSOD. I've tried different PCI slots.

I have a feeling I'll have to give up and use an inferior tuner - but I can't just let it defeat me. It can't "just be a problem" for no reason.

If anyone has ANY other troubleshooting steps I can take to help resolve the issue, I'm open to any suggestions. Any help is much appreciated.

I researched this quite a bit early this morning, but thought that I'd wait to see if others would have a better reply. The one suggestion that I kept running across and helped some people was going into BIOS and changing the setting for HyperTransport from Auto to 800 mhz. Hope this helps! ;)

I just built a media center PC with a PVR 350 tuner card which worked OK with XP then when I installed media center 2005 It gave me an error every time I tried to run the tuner software so I turned off a couple of things in services tab under msconfig Media center scheduling service and media center reciever service. This fixed my problem and I just use the tv software and scheduling software for the PVR card.

    FIXED.

Turns out the card was conflicting with my onboard firewire and gigabyte lan. I disabled both these features, and it now works fine. Nothing detects the card, but that's a different problem for another day.

    I appreciate everyone's thoughtful responses.

Alright lemme follow up on this. Maybe I can get some help on my second problem.

I've successfully installed the TV tuner without a bsod, but it won't function. After much searching, it looks like it won't function because of the following reason it's giving me:

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Error 12)"

Okay fine, but it's not sharing resources with anything. After booting in safe mode is specificly tells me:

"Memory Range EA000000 - EBFFFFFF not available."

and that is causing the conflict. windows suggests if this happens you just need to specify a new memory range for the device. But, windows doesn't allow you to do this.

So...any suggestions on how to either 1. make that memory range available or 2. get it to accept / choose another memory range?

Nothing has ever been so difficult to install.
