rivatuner allows yoou to unlock hidden pipes and shaders IF they can be unlocked on your card. I have no idea if the 7600GT can be unlocked, i doubt it, but google it and see what you come up with. NVtweak allows you to unlock all the hidden features in the Nvidia control panel, the one you're probably wanting is the clock speed adjustment. A 7600GT should run everything modern just great so unless you want to void your warranty but at the same time sqeeze as much as you can outta that card, id just stick to stock settings. If you got the cash, grab another for SLI

thanks for the reply . im not intrested in overclocking .
i was wondering if aa and af ,,etc would make a difference .
but then again , im playing games like call of duty , lock on , silent hunter 3 , with no problems ..
    before this 7600 gt ,i had a fx 5200 , and buddy ,, what a difference .
    this card is wicked .
i dont think i need to overclock anything .. at least not on the games i play ..
but the settings in PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY , got me kinda confused . i dont know what thats all about . ha ha . i guess ill keep the defaults ..
thanks for the reply . cheers .

AA and AF will usually be available for in-game settings but if its not you can make a profile for that game specifically that u can change to run w/e extras u want. Just leave everything on application-controlled and the performance/quality setting on quality. If you need extra fps just disable or turn down (2x or 4x) AA, u should be able to run AF just fine on any game.

i just recently upgraded my old celeron 2.8 ..
i guess im trying to get the best out of this rig .. ha ha .
theres so much to learn about overclocking .
memory timings , fsb , volt mods ,etc . i doubt if ill ever get there .
as a point of interest to me ..
    i did download 3dmark 05..
ran it ,,and got 6150 3d marks ..
is that the norm for this card????
    thanks for replying ..

I dont know what you should be getting with that setup but ill run it with what i got (see profile) and see how it comes out. you should get a significantly higher score, maybe not that much higher, but higher none the less. Ill get back to ya

how important are ram timings?? ive read some on that ..
my timings .. CPUZ PROGRAM .
    133 mhz 2.3.3.6
    166 mhz 2.3.3.7
    200mhz 3.4.4.8

Looking at your specs, a good upgrade would be a sound card. Music and games are SOOOOO much nicer with a good sound card. I have an Audigy 2 which i love but the best ones are the X-Fi series. Those things are really nice, and since they take such a large load off of your processor, they even increase gaming performance. Look into it

A higher memory frequency is going to get you better performance than tighter (lower) timings. If you up the speed on your memory (im guessing that its pc3200?) then relax the timings to around 2.5-3-3-7. If you have the time, fiddle around with them on your own, run some tests (everest is good for that) and then change the timings around until you get the best results.

    Time to run 3dmark....

    i do have a cobra ..
    cmedia 8738..
but i was told the onboard sound was AHEAD of the cobra .
i was considering getting a new soundcard , later in the fall . with new speakers . surround sound like .
are you pleased with AUDIGY ??if you dont mind me asking . how much did you pay??
    cheers

well, my Audigy 2 was a present bought from Staples (dont know if they have those in canada) for $70 USD. You can get an Audigy 2 ZS for $70 online and the X-Fi cards go for a little over 100.

    Just finished 3dMark, 4943 with a 6800XT (overclocked) 1 gig of ram, 3.0ghz p4 w/ HT @ 3.6ghz

Looks like your score is perfect for your setup. If u want, post your case mics here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=91767

check out the other people's pics too, including mine :)

Thats a great sound card right there, probably the most popular of the x-fi cards, if not all soundcards.

As for speakers, any Logitech speakers are great, these are some of their better ones: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1068249&Sku=L23-6332

these are some other ones you might want to look at: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=492

I have the 7.1 version of the Creative Labs INSP P5800 and they are pretty great. Just dont get cheap-o generic crap speakers, they wont last and will sound like crap. You can google some of those speaker systems and check out some reviews of them.
