I've had issues before and am very grateful for the helped I've received here. Now I need help again!

I've gone through the Win XP clean process for both machines, and the first went without a hitch. I'm attaching logs for review by trained eyes. Since only 4 uploads are allowed, the first four text files are combined into one in the following order: SAS, Mbam, Combofix and RootRepeal. MGlogs are separate.

I took the opportunity to get rid of anti-malware that I didn't like, just in case the question arises as to why none appears among installed software. I'm going with Comodo(over AVG), Spybot S&D and Spyware Blaster. Will this combo be redundant in any way?

The second machine will be addressed in the next post of this same thread.

Before I look at your logs, I am going to split off your second post as this is a different machine and we need to have separate threads for each system. ;)

It appears you did not disable Dameon tools! This results in a log that indicates an MBR infection. Please go back to the Read and Run First instructions and run defogger to disable it. Then run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

If that comes back showing no MBR infection, then your logs are clean.

You also need to properly rename ComboFix and put it directly on your desktop!!

I coulda sworn I did disable DT...well, I ran Defogger for sure(???), then MGTools. I made the same flub on both comps - not saving Combofix(or RootRepeal) to the desktop, too. Here's the log from MGT on this one.

Is it viable to move RR and CF to a folder in my root drive for future use, dragging and dropping to and from the desktop as needed, or should they only be located/downloaded DIRECT to desktop( /renamed) when time to use them?

Also, still wondering if there's any redundancy with the free-but-full Comodo suite thingy, Spybot S&D and Spyware Blaster set-up.

That is much better. Your logs are clean. Any issues you are having are not malware related. You are perfectly fine with the set up that you have. Here are the final cleanup instructions ( note that we suggest you also keep SAS and MBAM for backup scanning. )

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.We recommend them for doing backup scans when you suspect a malware infection.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

You should leave them on your desktop. That is where they need to be run from. However, since you are clean, you should just remove them as per the final cleanup. Combo should not be run without an expert assisting you.

There's also this to consider...Tools like this are updated constantly, so what you used yesterday might well be outdated already...
