I am trying to do some simple tasks with Ubuntu 10.04 server, and the first thing is having it share two external HDD over a home network (one will be a backup for the other. I am having some trouble though, these are the things I've tried.

Installing Samba and setting up a share.
chmod the external HDD to 777 for all users.
Formatting the hard drives as Fat32.

Is there anything else I should have to do to get these HDDs to share over the network? My other computers can detect the computer over the network, and see the shared folder, but just not access it.
