    Sadly, yes... I don't think there is any command line magic that can fix this type of hardware problem. :(

    I know we are off the Ubuntu topic, but Linux Mint 8 is really good, just installed it on a PC now and the installer is superb, tempted to install it on my netbook over using Windows 7 HP as I using now.... ok maybe not.

    Linux Mint is lovely. I broke it though. Never met an OS I couldn't hose :-D
