I am using Windows 10 and have been for some time & I am going to blame the updates for this madness.
Some W10 if you right click the speaker you get a menu with serveral selections - I like it to change my Playback Devices, other W10 you get a two option menu that opens "settings" or troubleshoot.. I like the old printer interface, so I hit "start" and type "view installed printers" and most of the time "view in" will bring up the result I want, but some systems I can type the whole phrase and it will not find it. Why is there a globe icon for no internet instead of the old X? I swear at one time right clicking the network icon got the old adapters interface, now it goes to the clunky "settings" page where I have to select ethernet and change adapter to get where I want to be.
Its the little things that drive you crazy. I have resorted to creating shortcuts using shell commands.

Win10 is sick of you too!

Non of us like change, its a downright PITA!

    But its necessary......;)

The new monitor resolve is the result of changes to the script within the OS, maybe rendering it less vulnerable?

Whats broken this week, will surely be patched next week!

Coding an OS is a tough game.....its trial and error!

Windows update did yours truly no favors on the last update. The last version of Catalyst/Adrenalin which supports VSR on my setup is v. 18.3.4, and W10 kindly updated the driver for me when installing the latest version.

Good thing I keep a copy of the old install file...

Yep, if this wasn't my work laptop I would be skining it. I have one at home that looks like XP.
I'm pretty sure I've seen a program out there that has shortcuts to the old looking settings, etc.

Oh yeah, now when I open Explorer the view is sorted by recent in groups? or something - I didn't set it!!
    Maybe I'll install Windows 9.5 :rolleyes:https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/748494-windows-95-install-guide/

That reminds me. haven't seen Major Attitude in a while. Wherever he is, I hope he's enjoying a toast with good friends. No avocado jokes, sorry folks!!

The only issue I have with updates is the automatic driver updates. Not everyone has 2160 or better. Sometimes developers should ask permission, before forgiveness...

I understand this is often frustrating with a myriad of third party programs users run on their systems.
10 was chiefly designed with user security in mind, and most security holes one can experience sadly do exist in these apps. Out dated drivers for TP progs being in the top 5 holes of vulnerability.
Your only as strong as your weakest link online today.
I know you understand this, and how incredibly difficult it is to keep 4+ billion users not only secure, but happy also

You know what is funny.Hackers find vulnerabilities in patch's be for they hit main stream. So safe to say being secure can be hard.Technology should not be progressing this fast as is.Heck 10 years ago we where still using Dial up now we have 5G networks and Fiber cables.Still think we are moving slow.

Yes, being totally 100% secure is not plausible, it's simply impossible.
What we can do to help sure ourselves up online, is to make sure we run the latest updates on every piece of software we face at the internet layer. The Operating system is the front line of defense.
We all loved XP, but it would surely spell instant doom in today's online interactions
Tech does move faster than ever before, but we should embrace this to our advantage rather than fight against it.;)

Isn't there a shell prog somewhere out there that makes 10 look like XP?
